Belinda is a timeless beauty. I love the way she feels so comfortable on stage with her oldest friends. Also she seems to have even more control and nuance in her lovely voice than ever before -- she's become a consummate professional. And Gina Schock remains utterly amazing! At age 63 here and she's hammering away like a 20 year old. The physical feat alone is worthy of a great deal of respect. And the rest of them are also marvelous -- Kathy, Jane and Charlotte. Just a great group. Such memories.

My best friend of 35 years loves the GoGos. A huge fan since they dropped their first single in 1981. We met in Boy Scouts when we were 11years old. In High School we saw them in concert and Gina Shock threw out her drumstick and he caught it! I still remember driving around in his 1985 Jeep sing along on the cassette player. In 2013 he was diagnosed with a rare brain tumor caused by full blow AIDS. When he was in the Hospital in Arkansas his sister reached out to Belinda C. Rep. Belinda called a day later and talked to him on the phone for an hour and she prayed with him. I can remember it to this day. My friend was 43 and looked like he was 103 bc of the effects of AIDS. But for one fleeting moment youth paid its last visit and he was 15 again. He passed away on Dec 12, 2013. He told his sister to give me the drumstick. I still have in a glass case on my fire place mantle. Belinda C. is an angel too me for what she did for my friend. I will always hold her in the highest esteem. I love you Belinda and Ray...always.

There early days are so different, musically, than their more pop oriented hits. They were totally punk. They were a self-made band, they put in the time, and deserved the recognition. I think I first heard Our Lips Our Sealed. Instant hit IMO.
@kekwayblaze31763 жыл бұрын
Drew Barrymoore was a great choice to introduce the Go-Go's as during the heyday of the Go-Go's Drew had already outdid the band in terms of partying and being wild. So Drew could certainly relate to the Go-Go's in that regard. Plus Drew has been a fan of the band since she was a little girl and still is to this day.
@redrick89003 жыл бұрын
I'd rather have a musician. Getting a child actor to do it is just another way to make it all about them being a girl band.
@kekwayblaze31763 жыл бұрын
@@redrick8900 The fact you had someone who grew up with the band as their idol resonates with those who did, and thus having a real fan introduce the band into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame makes sense. Yet you no doubt cheered on someone like Obama and Dave Chapelle inducting Jay-Z who shouldn't have been inducted to begin with into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Yet you have a problem with Drew Barrymoore.
@redrick89003 жыл бұрын
@@kekwayblaze3176 If you can't get someone who is a real fan and a musician you don't belong in the Hall of Fame. I love Drew Barrymore, in movies. I don't know what she's doing here. Screw Jay Z. Your propensity to be doubtless about things with no basis in reality that are completely false is astounding.
@honggiangvogia3 жыл бұрын
@@redrick8900 I’m sure The Go Go’s have some real fans who are also musicians. But hey it was the RRHOF’s decision to whom they would invite to introduce the inductees. They chose Angela Bassett to induct Tina Turner, would you say Tina doesn’t belong to the HOF?
@redrick89003 жыл бұрын
@@honggiangvogia It's the Hall of Fame I'm calling out as BS. I'm not saying the Go Go's don't belong. I like the Go Go's. That's why I checked out the video. I loved Flea's introduction of Metallica. Angela Bassett shouldn't have inducted Tina Turner either. It should have been Mick Jagger. They toured together. Also, The Hall of Fame isn't an arbiter of anything. It's just a venue with a gimmick. I consider no one better or lessor for being in it or not.

My Sister and I were there in person and seeing The Go-Gos finally getting inducted into the RRHOF and performing on this long overdue, historic night was one of the greatest night of lives and we will never forget it. I have been loving The Go-Gos since I was 12 and I'm almost 52 now. I never imagined 40 years later that I would be able to witness this in person and that all of the iconic members would be alive to receive this historic honor and achievement and all play together on one stage in one night. It was truly epic!

I didn't get to see the go go's until 2012 ( I live in Ontario, Canada). It was so awesome seeing them play live. It is awesome seeing Kathy back with them. When I seen them in concert, Kathy was not part of the Go go's. Kathy was one of the koolest (and prettiest) bass players for any female group. Rock on!!!

Definition of cool. I was born in 1990. Dad got me started on Kiss and ACDC and so forth by the time I was 5. Then to Judas Priest and Maiden. Love rock & roll in all it's real true forms. Got into punk and speed in my teens. Never wavered. Watched the Gogos doc last night. And even that got me emotional... It's just so CLEAR... Things were just SOOOO MUCH BETTER. I can feel it when I watch all the docs about the time and the music. The spirit of rock n roll. The whole thing. Just sooo bummed out I wasn't alive to experience any of it. The 70s and 80s. Such a special time. Damn it.
