How to identify a vintage bottle of Dolce Vita: - 5-digit batch code = pre-1998; 4-digit batch code = post-1998. Consult the online blog 'Raiders of the Lost Scent' for more details. - No stickers: The batch code, the information on the bottom of the bottle as well as the gold lettering 'Dolce Vita Christian Dior Paris' are etched into the glass. - Vintage caps were brownish, not clear white. - The box features a black stripe.

and the tube is white close to the sprayer. new bottles have a very delicate pipe.

I agree, you can wear it all year round. Very good description of vintage version. To anyone who hasn't smelled this, this scent is soo unique, I haven't smelled anything similar. Good observation that it is oriental sweet, but not gourmand. It is parfumy fruity/spice sweet. Florals are there, but it is all so blended well, I don't get any distinctive floral at all, it is just pure heaven. Could you please help us identify what '90s packaging box was as suppose to modern? If you can share with us the barcode number? I want to buy sealed vintage on ebay, but, it is such a gamble.

Hi there, thank you for this lovely comment.🙂 Happy to help. The box in the video is a vintage one, distinguishable by the black stripe; newer boxes are entirely yellow. My previous bottle (featured in my Christmas perfume video) is from 1996 (6R567), and the one in this video is also from 1996 (6Z241). Vintage bottles shouldn’t have stickers; instead, the information on the bottom of the bottle, the batchcode, and gold lettering 'Dolce Vita Christian Dior Paris' are etched into the glass. Vintage bottles have brownish caps, not completely clear ones. I hope this helps. Batchcodes: Pre-1998 batchcodes are typically 5 digits long, the first digit indicating the year. Can't bring myself to like this one and, from your description, I have the vintage one. My sister-in-law gave it to me because she didnt like it and she knew I usually love this type of perfume. Well, it will still be here, too bad I'm not near you because I'd gladly give it for free to someone who really loves it. Wow. Thank you for this magnificent Dolce Vita review.. I still got a bottle from 2018... All I can say is, if I am in a very joyful mood, smelling Dolce Vita would enhance my happy mood many times .. I adore Dolce Vita❤.. I have a bottle of Dior Poison too. If I were to compare both, I would think Dior Poison smell more dated than Dolce Vita.. funny isnt it?

Hi Luke! I love this fragrance and have been wearing it since it was released. To be honest, it was my mum who owned it but she didn’t mind sharing so I wore it too and been buying DV ever since. Thankfully I haven’t had any issues with the new formula. It still lasts on my skin and is still the Dolce Vita I have always known. Could it be that your vintage bottle has macerated? I don’t doubt that it was reformulated (as most perfumes have these days), but the new one is still as wonderful as ever in my opinion. I love your Chanel and think you have great taste in perfume. Hello there! Did I forget to tell you that I bought a 5ml splash of this perfume to see how I like it!😊 I also bought a 7.5 ml of Samsara edp....both vintage. I haven't received them yet. When I bought Elie Saab edp, she sent me a sample of the rose version. That is also very good. She also sent a sample of Xerjoff Bouquet Ideale. It's REALLY beautiful, but I will never pay Xerjoff prices! I'm glad I bought vintage, though small, Dolce Vita😂

I'm very sorry for not realising you are a man. It's probably because you are showing these beautiful women's perfumes. Dolce vita is also among my favourites. Please let me recommend just a few perfumes that are similar to your choices, but I have not seen them in your films. These are: Bottega Veneta Bottega Veneta EDP (beware of fakes, there are hundreds of fakes of the biggest bottle), Estee Lauder Sensuous Noir, Kenzo Jungle Elephant, Moschino Moschino (the one that looks like wine bottle), YSL Manifesto (also terribly faked in the biggest bottle). Except for bottega all are the mix of oriental-floral-spicy and are wonderful. @@lukeparfums

Dior have missed a golden opportunity to relaunch this - they should have taken the peachy spicy vanilla, improved and modernized it and re-released it around 2012. It was a bit of a flop at the time in the 90s but the whole Amalfi coast Dolce Vita Italian aesthetic has been trending since Instagram became mainstream. Current formula is lacking, the bottle is cheap and plasticky and the performance is abysmal and yet it's still quite expensive. Most butchered 90s scents that are still on sale today are at least cheap to go with the butchering. I still like it it but It could be so much more.

I more or less agree with everything you said. Instead of Vanilla Diorama, they should have rereleased this or created a new formula that wouldn’t be such a sad shadow of its former self. I’m on my second vintage bottle. I also bought a new one about two years ago, but I returned it because I thought it was counterfeit-that’s how watered down it was. Dune is still good, though.
