Dior Eau Sauvage EDT | Fragrance Review

Got my first bottle of EAU Sauvage toilette today. I'm 35 and when I asked the Dior sales assistant she instantly went for the newer sauvage. The confusion on her face when I said "no no that one!" The confusion on her face pointing at the classic bottle "what? That one?"

I remember this one from smelling it on older dudes at business dinners after golf outings at the Country Clubs. It’s the generation of the guys who were born in the mid to late 30’s, the Korean War generation. It’s a very classy, masculine scent that exudes “ money”.

This is such a good cologne. I was a bit insecure in purchasing it due to it being talked down so much for weak longevity and "the old version was so much better"-talk. I got it a few days ago and I am more than satisfied. I mean, I like beast colognes like MFK Oud or BR580 or Polo Green and so on, but I needed something very light and airy, still noticeable for the summer. So far I got Terre Dhermes and Guerlain Vetiver, which are great fragrances, but I wanted some easy going light spritz cologne. And this is it. Its not a beastmode like the above mentioned but thats not the purpose. Then again, it is not as weak like 1hr colognes like some say online. I get AT LEAST 6, if not 8 hrs out of it and while it does not have THAT sort of sillage, it will get noticed, when people are in close encounters with you (I'd say about 30cm or so), like when shaking hands, embracing or passing by closely. And this all with such a wonderful airy, herbal really fresh citrus smell. This makes it the perfect hot weather scent for me, since I dont want to have some heavy, intense smelling stuff on me when its 30 degrees and more. I just want that "hm you smell fresh and nice" when somebody comes close, without smelling intrusive by any means. Again, top tier summer/hot weather fragrance.

Tbh I thought the opening was off-putting and just smelt like lemon detergent. But after it runs for a bit, the aromatic notes come in and I start to realize why this is so beloved. On the dry down I get a prominent lavender note on my skin, which adds to the clean soapy feel. As of right now I'm still coming to appreciate this scent and let it grow on me. Though I wonder if I should go for the parfum instead.

I fell in love instantly with Eau Sauvage Extreme in the mid-80s when I first smelled it and I still have the bottle of it. And you know what? It still smells like it did back then, so I'd say it's a real vintage! I got a bottle of Parfum not long ago and yeah, it's actually better than I expected. I've got many fragrances in my collection with a lot of new stuff but Eau Sauvage will always have a special place in my heart.

Tell the truth OLDHEAD!! I have a bottle without the Magnet cap from the 90-early 20. It’s a real Panties dropper. Although the EDP lasts longer, I only wear it in Fall/Winter. I’m 65 years old and I have a large collection of that OLDHEAD Smell Good like, Halston Z12, Dali Pour Homme, and Salvador, Aramis Tuscany, Davidoff Zino, Kenzo Homme, YSL Live Jazz, Grey Flannel, and My favorite Antaeus pour Homme, to name a few. I believe today’s EDT/EDP’s smell very Fake or Commercialized? I like that Manly, Elegant, Sexy smell of the 80-early 2000, but Bleu de Chanel or practically ALL the Chanel Men’s Parfüms are wonderful. The New Dior Sauvage has nothing to do with the old. Tom Fords OUD is the only modern Duft that smells good, to Me. Keep speaking the Truth. And remember, Parfüm will last almost FOREVER if You handle it correctly. No Sunlight, Cool storage place, and use light smells in Summer and heavy in Fall/Winter. Oh one last point. On EBay there’s often Super bargains, but Buyer beware. Always ask of Originality, size, and Batchnummer. It’s on EVERY Flakon either on the bottom, or near the bottom on the backside.There’s a site Checkcosmetic.net where You can find out the Authenticity ie; Manufacturing date, all at a click. So if the Batchnummer isn’t listed it’s probably not Original. I’ve made some great buys with a few Chips. A 300ml Flakon of Chanel Bleu de Chanel, with Batchnummer 6401 and Magnet cap for 80€ or approximately 100 bucks!! Ja I know 300ml, and it will outlast Me, but I do have a Son that visits quite often, and I have noticed it seems a little bit less in the Flakon after each visit. I buy miniatures of each Parfüm and refill it, put it in the pocket or shoulder bag, then I can always have a good refresher on hand. Actually that’s what it’s there for. I love that you have a review for this fragrance as not many others on KZbin have one. Dior Eau Sauvage is my favorite fragrance I even have the matching aftershave. I love it so much I’m just really disappointed with the performance. Awesome review though, keep it up man.

Just grabbed a 30 ml bottle on sale for $45. Love the fragrance, but…very disappointed in the performance. Bought it at a reputable drug store so I’m pretty sure it’s legit. Takes 8-10 sprays to get any performance in any fashion. It appears reformulation has destroyed a once great frag. I would give it : Scent 8. Performance 5 Longevity 5 Needs to be sprayed on your clothes as well as your skin.

About the longevity. 5 hours is fine in my opinion. This is the kind of fragrance that I would bring with me on a vacation, and on a vacation to a place like Barcelona, I am rarely away from the hotel for more than 5 hours at a time. So plenty of chances to refresh.

Only a few weeks ago I got a decant of Eau Sauvage. I have the latest version, maybe one day I will get a hold of the original. I really like it as is. I'd give it an 8 out of 10. SOTD: Mancera Red Tobacco.

i have a 10 ml bottle edt which is identical with the eau savage big ones but alot smaller ...i wanna know since u own both edt and edp ,i cannot find parfum sample to try ,do they smeel the same ,i know parfum is stronger but are there big differences in smell between the two,if i like edt will i like edp ?

I never understood why these guys say that this colone holds its secent for 4-5 hours! TOTALLY NOT TRUE!!! TOTALLY NOT TRUE. I recently purchased this exact 3 oz bottle for $98 through Amazon after I received it and spayed it on, it only lasted LITTERLY LITTERLY lasted 5 minutes! Lucky after complaining to Amazon they refunded my money so don't get dupped.
