But how long do you wait before applying the top coat so the brush doesn’t harden?

I'm unsure why no one answered you. but I personally Tap off excess then wait a full 20 to 30 seconds then take a dry brush across wippig off any excess powder generously dusting to make sure I have no missed any and THEN recoat for another dip. Making sure any loose powder is gone is how you avoid hardening your brush. If you do they also sell brush cleaner and replaceable brushes for your bottles as mistakes happen.

Does dipping that nails that many times make them too thick?

Dipping to many times do so yes. But if you watch they start from the tip right above the join if the false extension tip and slowly add the powder higher and higher building a nail apex and making sure it's not thick near the cuticle. Nail apex. The rounded shape. Helps keep long nails from snapping and looking awkwardly fake. You want to avoid putting to many layers near the cuticle as it will build up and look very bulky.
