I have an idea for your next "series". Since you were saying recently that you need fresh ideas, how about a brand new thing? You follow a platoon, brigade or a regiment of the USA, UK, Germans or any other nation. They have some tanks, some static weaponry and you follow them through a small campaing. For an example, a German motorized detachment, fighting in the east. You follow them through 4 - 5 battles in the east and conclude the series by either making them all die or be victorious. They should have limited tanks and BTRs and such, but you can make it so that they are resupplied sometimes, with troops and veichles. Just a suggestion! Cheers.

Sure, and probably 300,000 total. But nobody ever seems to talk about the 25,000,000 Chinese, Indian, Philippine and Islander civilians that were starved and butchered by the Japanese. Visit Nanjing sometime, you'll understand the Japanese got off light. At this point, the U.S. had already lost 100,000 soldiers in the Pacific, so when the casualty figures projected for an invasion of Japan quadrupled that figure they were understandably a little bit tired of that crap. Yes, it sucks- but every trace of Japanese imperialism needed to be destroyed, and you can't do that without a full surrender.

StalkerQtya So, how should the U.S. have stopped Stalin without getting into a brutally destructive global war? I think you'll find the answer is "you can't-" so the U.S. did the next best thing and tried to keep his awful ideology from spreading (see Korea and Vietnam). How should the U.S. have destroyed German and Japanese infrastructure and "will to fight" without hurting anybody? In total war, everyone is either directly or indirectly related to the war effort i.e. boys go to war and girls work at the arms factory. Germany and Japan are both thriving democracies today and reject military expansionism- how would you have accomplished that? Again, 300,000 Japanese civilians did die in all the air raids, and the German government estimate 635,000 were killed in all the air raids. I don't mean to be pedantic, but that isn't "millions" and the U.S. did not do it because "'Murrica fuck yeah!" They did it because they never wanted to fight that war again- no WWIII involving Germany or Japan.
