Spot on comments. Even if overpriced for a steel nib pen, I'm still getting one,probably 2 since I usually get a red partner for balance. Diplomat put a lot of effort into the quality control of their nibs which means you always get an excellent writing experience out of the box. You know that.

Diplomat makes some of the best nibs out there. I have a few, even bought extra nibs for them. Steel and 14k are all fantastic. Hope to get this pen at some point. Glad to see they continue to improve where needed. Great video.

Interesting, but looks too heavy and bulky. Besides, I've been trying different inks lately, defeating the business case of massive capacity. The gold trim looks too flashy, and the price questionable. Hardly a new filing mechanism.

Lovely review, glad you addressed the metal section "issue", this is one of these pens I would need to hold in hand to better determine "slipage" (for lack of better word). Regarding price, agree that it is on the high side, but I guess one pays for the development and uniqueness that comes with the pen. Once again appreciate the review.

Thanks for the comment, Peter. I think development forth or back - this pen is simply too steeply priced for what it is :) .

Brilliant pen. The only thing I'd have to check out in the shop,is whether or not I can live,work with that section. I love that filling station set up.

Thank you for the informative review! I’m wondering how the cap seal is on this one, or is it less of an issue because of the valve closure mechanism? Have you test it to see how long it can go without use before you get hard starts or you have to clean the pen to get the ink flowing? Thank you!
@Scrivelynotes
@Scrivelynotes 10 ай бұрын
The cap seal works very well! No, I have never attempted to test that out. But I can say this: using the pen at least once every two weeks was no problem at all.

Good to see another of your reviews. It must be so hard for pen manufacturers to come up with new styles now. The idea of the holder to fill the pen is silly marketing department stuff. Marketing departments so often loose the plot! No, I do not put pen boxes in my inner jacket pocket, just yet. The section kills this for me. It lacks elegance and looks crude on the eye Yes, Diplomat nibs are exemplary. Nice engineering with the ink cut off. Yes, that is far too expensive. The one thing that you did not cover was burping. So many eye dropper pens are let down with that. Thanks for this review. Diplomat pens are one of my reliable go to good writers. I hope all is going well for you and yours. Be well. :)

All good here, Kevin. Thanks! How are you? Your comments resonate with me very much. Think the station - well, I would not keep around a large box like this, just to use it for filling. And if you take the "station part" our of the box, for it to be smaller, then, well, where to put it? Guess the idea of the pen is more for people who have only this one pen, maybe one or two more. But as a main writer, it would be too large and heavy for me personally. Burping I did not spot. But what I spotted later on: the section than shifts in and out of the "cut off"-part at times brings a little ink with it when it shifts back out; which you then annoyingly have on the upper part of the section...

@@Scrivelynotes I'm good thanks. Just the same old, keeping the storms 'on the lea' as much as possible, as we all do. That's great regarding the burping. TBH I couldn't imagine Diplomat putting a pen out with that issue. In my experience they get things 'right'. As I watched you picked out so many things and I thought, "Oh, yes." A good review thanks. Anyway, I wish you well and look forward to your next video. Cheers!

It is expensive. I bought the Elox with gold nib to celebrate repaying a loan and I don’t regret paying almost double for gold. That gold nib is amazing. I like the Elox/Aero because they’re sturdy and have a cartridge converter. It’s so much easier to replace a cartridge converter for a few dollars than send it back to the factory for servicing (Mont Blanc). I actually don’t see high ink capacity as a selling point. I get bored to easy. Sheesh, how much writing will you do before you deplete black ink!

How long did the ink take to fill the feeder to the nib? I just got one of these with the demonstrator model and filled it over 8 hours ago on July 6, 2024 and still no ink. Upside down, on its side, opened it up to let air get in and filled it a little more. Uncapped as well when it is on the side. Please tell me how to get the ink through to the nib. Or what am I doing wrong? 🎉
@Scrivelynotes
@Scrivelynotes 2 ай бұрын
It should only take seconds or so. Did you try to (empty the pen and) once completely flush the front unit with lukewarm water?
@colonelshag

I should have done that on a new pen? It had no ink inside it until I used the dropper yesterday when it arrived.

@@colonelshagcould be there is some residues in the feed from manufacturing, for instance, and flushing the pen once could ensure this is not the cause for the trouble you’re having
@colonelshag

@@Scrivelynotes Yes, just flushed out the nib with hot water because I am out of pen flush, but will get some. It was a bit of different colored ink residue, a green/black not the blue that Diplomat sent to put in the pen. I have never had to flush a pen when it was new, but will continue to use this trick. Now the ink if flowing better, not fully to write smoothly without ink breaks on the paper, but I will fully flush it when I get the pen flush liquid. THANKS 🙏🏻

I like Diplomat as a brand. Because their pens are always very well-made and come with splendidly tuned steel nibs. Alas, they don’t always look great. I don’t like the Aero only because, sadly, it looks rather ugly when uncapped. The Elox is also rather unappealing in appearance. But I swear by my two Excellence A2 pens. Now, the new Nexus pen you show here looks like a quality pen with a fine filling system. Is the nib a Jowo steel one? Anyway, the truly hideous section just ruins it for me. Not because it is metal (which I don’t prefer but have no problems using) but because it looks a really ugly let-down. Lastly, the price is quite inexplicable. At $300 + pricing I reckon I’ll be perfectly happy with my many fabulous looking steel nib Montegrappa pens instead.

the nib is the same as on all the other Diplomats, Sajjad! So yes, a JoWo.

I love what they've done with the filling system, and I enjoy Diplomat nibs a lot, but I hate metal sections, and I find the looks of this pen extremely off-putting. I may need to accept that Diplomat is simply not my brand.

Hello, my friend. Well, this is an unusal piece; it is very non-descriptive, & I have to say, even with the ribs on the section, I do not care for that design. The fact that this is now the flagship model, as well as being a century on in design, I would have expected something a little more, in terms of finesse. I do agree that Faber-Castell & Diplomat use sublime steel nibs in their production, & I cannot fault their performance on paper, tho' given the option of purchasing one with a gold nib - & virtually doubling the price tag - that's a clear faux pas to my way of thinking. The cost alone for this pen with a steel nib is prohibitively expensive, & I have to say, I do not like that clip, at all; it almost seems like an afterthought. Your observations, as ever, are spot on, Michael. Not the model for me I'm afraid. I hope you & yours are in fine health. Always a pleasure !! Andrew 🙂

My Son & I are fine form, thank you my friend. The late vacation last year was a much needed respite - we returned refreshed. Certainly, for the devotees of this fine pen manufacturer, it shall find its market, tho' for a Centennial piece, I cannot help but feel it is somewhat uninspiring, & could have been so much more; but hey, that's the way it goes. Do take care, Michael - & of course, that lovely family of yours, bis gleich ! Andrew.
