Diplomat Traveller Flame fountain pen review: The cheapest fireblue fountain pen

Happy to learn that you have a good impression of Diplomat pens. I have several Diplomat pens in my collection, both with steel nibs and 14k nibs and the nibs are bitter smooth. Love these pens and they are very reliable and of good quality.

The Traveller is my most recent Diplomat purchase, and I agree with you, it's a great pen. I bought one with F nib and stainless steel finish (on special in-store because the finish was slightly marred) - then bought an identical pen with M nib a little later online. The F borders on EF, but is a smooth and economical writer. The M lays down a wider line without being too wide (for me), and is smoother still. I have 3 other Diplomats that cost me a fair bit more - and honestly, the Traveller is just a tad on the thin side for me - but at the moment my Travellers are getting the most use. Love the finish on yours - thanks so much for reviewing!

I got this pen with the fine nib, and just like you I really like it. Everything you mention is true for the fine nib as well.

I'll have to try a fine nib - I generally prefer medium nibs, but if their fine nibs are as good as their others, then I'll be very happy! 😀

@@FountainPenJourney I have a Fine and a Medium in the Traveller. The Fine is noticeably finer (comparable to an EF in some other European brands, IMHO), but still a very nice writer, and not at all scratchy. I'd probably slightly favour the M, though...

I've always wanted to try a Diplomat pen, but the Magnum didn't appeal to me (thank goodness) and the Aero is more than I want to spend right now. But this pen, especially this finish, is a strong possibility.

It's well worth it. It's affordable enough and this Flame finish is gorgeous!

Thank you so much for this video. I’ve never heard of this pen. I was disappointed with the Magnum and I can’t really afford an Aero. It’s nice to know there is one in between.

I've got a few Diplomats. This one is a bit skinny for my liking. Aero Flame more to my taste. Pair the little Lamy
