Hi Robin, at the time of this video I was using 2-part epoxy glue. Nowadays, I use Gorilla Glue Clear. I avoid water-based glues because I believe they soften the paint and cause it to wrinkle, thus causing the dreaded 'silver spots'. I hope that helps! If you're not already aware, we have a Facebook group called 'Acrylic Pour Jewelry' where we share our work and help troubleshoot problems. Feel free to look it up! It's a huge group and everyone's very nice ^_^

Hi there! I have never had any issues with the paint peeling off and have been wearing my pieces regularly for years :) I have heard of people dropping their pendants on the floor/bathroom bench and it breaks apart, but that's unexpected damage so it's a different thing altogether. Thanks for your lovely words!

You said you added silicone for the cells (I think you said hair something) but do you need to wash that off when dry like I'm reading alot of people do with their paintings done with the silicone added? Thanks!
@13Art
@13Art 5 ай бұрын
Hi there! If I'm using dried pain skins, yes, I'll wipe the skin briefly with a non-oily baby wipe before I glue. If it's a dip, no, I don't clean it off but I do make sure that the pain adheres to the glass or otherwise touch it up with a finger dipped in paint. If there's any silicone pooling on the surface of the paint, it will prevent the paint sticking to the glass, but there shouldn't be any silicone pooling if it's done correctly (stirred into the paint before pouring). I hope this helps!

Would this work with just regular acrylic paints with nothing added?
@13Art
@13Art 5 ай бұрын
To a certain degree. The Floetrol helps the paint to stay fluid and wet so that you can tip, pour, manipulate the designs and dip. Regular acrylic paint will lack the fluidity to do those things, although if you 'smeared' the paint into a design instead of pouring you could manage a similar effect. You won't get cells though.

I have some copper pendants that I concaved. How would I do an acrylics skin to fit?
@13Art
@13Art 2 жыл бұрын
Hi there! Concaved, hey! You could try dipping...I'm not sure if it would cover the surface effectively, but if it doesn't work, just clean the paint off while it's wet :) Alternatively, you could try pouring directly into the tray. It's harder to control the effect that way, but you could use a toothpick to manipulate it somewhat. Good luck!

Should I dip exactly after I pour or do I have some time?
@13Art
@13Art 3 жыл бұрын
Hi Parisa! You can leave it for a little while however a skin will form before too long and the dips may be unsuccessful. Also, the longer you leave your paint, the patterns can change so you may not get the look you're after. If you're using Floetrol in your paint mix, I'd recommend you dip within about 20 minutes after you pour :)

I did this, but i get paint on the sides, am I dipping too much?
@13Art
@13Art 3 жыл бұрын
Hey Alexandra, yeah you're probably dipping a little too deep - you only want to touch the paint to the flat side of the cab. Dipping too deep may mar the pattern. If you get paint on the sides, a cloth dipped in rubbing alcohol will take it off quick smart :)

How long after you pour should you wait to dip?
@13Art
@13Art 3 жыл бұрын
Hi Kathy! I would recommend you dip as soon as you've manipulated your pour (ie. swiped or tilted or whatever you're planning to do to it). After a while it will form a skin on the top which would likely mar your dips.

@13Art
@13Art 3 жыл бұрын
Hi Manouchka, sometimes I do but these days, using Floetrol and Global paint, I find it makes cells without the silicone. You can, either way - I don't find it causes a problem except that if that silicone has pooled and you dip in that spot, it will repel the paint away from the glass. If that happens, just dip your pinkie finger in the paint and touch up that place on the glass and it will fix it right up :)

Hi...I have been doing jewelry with skins and dipping. I have had to pull several pieces, because the silicone rises and causes a shiny, greasy spot against the glass. The pendant, cabachon and gorgeous paint design are ruined. Do you have this problem? I have started cleaning skins, like a canvas, before making jewelry, but cant do dips that way. I have done some dips on the domed, outside suurface and get amazing ,vivid designs and both sides are gorgeous if you want to not put in a pendant, varnish and to seal and use a bail. The silicone worrys me though! Any advice or thoughts?
@13Art
@13Art 4 жыл бұрын
Hi Beverly, yes, that means you're using too much silicone in your paint - try just using a drop or two. Only a little is needed! You may still get the occasional spot where the paint doesn't stick - just keep an eye on that whilst dipping and if you see one, use a pinkie finger dipped in paint to cover it up :)

Hi there! It depends on the thickness of the paint. There are many different paint pouring formulas, but if I am using impasto paint, my mix is 1 part paint to 3 parts Floetrol, unless it's a metallic colour in which case my mix is 1:2. For thin paint, I use 1:1 and for everything in between I use 1:2 :)

Hi Pamela, the only place I've found it so far is Spotlight, at the dressmaking counter. It's used for making patterns I think? Something to do with stitching, anyway lol. The other thing you could try (I use this now) is in KMart - in the pet area, there is a silicone puppy feeding mat (it's easy to wipe clean when they make a mess while eating). The skins peel right off it and it's reusable :)

@13Art
@13Art 6 жыл бұрын
Hi Christine! I dipped right after I poured and manipulated the paint into the designs I wanted. Kat, if you use silicone in your pour the cells should show up right away - you can use a small butane torch waved over it to bring out more cells. Depending on the density of the paints and the brand, you can also get cells without using silicone.
