Love it when the fishing is hot in Chitina, plenty of time to goof around, do some catch and release, be picky about what fish we catch. I caught a bunch trying to bring in a king. Finally gave up after an hour, came back in the morning and the first fish I caught was a king. Glad I left one spot open on my tag! June 14, 15th dippin' on the Copper. Filled all our permits and proxy's with 185 fish on our personal use tags.

We dipent just downstream from the confluence of the Chitina River were it flows into the Copper. The main coloration of the water is due to silt. This is in Alaska about 300 miles south of Fairbanks. Reds are the main catch, but we are also trying to get a king on our permit. Silvers run much later in the year, but the prize is the oil rich sockeye. Too many die on this river so there's no cool point deductions for wearing a life vest. :)
