In all honesty, the runner was safe, big cats like the mountain lion are timid and usually avoid confrontation, so it was simply hiding, it's what they do best, when you go for a walk in the woods where these cats live, they may be watching you at all times and you'll never know.

I came to the realisation that most people dont fear crocodiles as much as other animals. I am terrified of the idea that something is under water patiently waiting for you to step in. I dont understand people who feel so secure in the wild without any weapons, especially in water. If I knew that there are crocs where I live, I would doublecheck the bath tub before jumping in.

Problem is, crocs are ambush predators. You don't see them 'till they grab you, and then you're either incredibly lucky or done for. Not much a weapon could do when a croc death rolls...

It's completely fine to touch a baby animal if it's stuck Not quite the same species but, one real danger with returning babies to their mothers if a DUCKLING got lost or has been gone for a while, the mothers may not recognize their child and kill it. Ducks don't accept new ducklings Just do a quick google search for what to do if you find any specific lost baby animal and it should work out

Scariest one was actually the hippo under the tree, dude must have run for his life from a certain death. Hippos (directly) kill more humans than any other animal. The saltwater croc near swim was actually equally as scary. Tourists would have been lunch, local knew to check for deadlies. I wonder if it heard them coming and moved underneath. Edit: lion in the tent, holy shit.

That was an Australian magpie (aka Cracticus tibicen), just grabbing some food (the wolf spider) to take home to the kiddies :) Our magpies here in AU are quite formidable scavengers. They're also VERY defensive of their nests in mating season (spring). If you've ever been swooped by one, you'll know all about that - like the bloke on his bike at 2:48...

Squirrels have amazing reflexes. After being knocked off the tree by the cat it most likely leaped away to safety. They're actually faster ninjas than cats. The human petting lulled the squirrel into a false sense of security otherwise a cat couldn't have done that unless the squirrel was blind and deaf

He didn’t even know the cougar was there and I’m sure it was just hiding from him as it was kinda lost and scared in Suburbia but that was also very much and hunting posture. And cougars are tenacious little killing machines, have y’all seen all the videos on KZbin of people doing the whole “get big and get loud” thing at a cougar that’s stalking them and then the cougar just takes one slow motion step forward after another like “You mean don’t come any closer, like THIS lunch!” Geez.

I was watching the clip with the dogs going crazy about something, human came out, dogs rushed home, human saw black bear, managed to scare it away. I laughed, "Dogs are useless -- get the cat!" and... the next clip was of the hiding mountain lion who looked somewhat young to take on a bear, but still would have chased away the bear better than yappy dogs... 😄

As a wildlife ranger, one thing i need to say, when you encountered any wild animals, don't make a sudden movement. usually people will panic (which is normal) and the animals are the same so their plans either run, or attack. Us as a human, just defend. do not try to attack or run away abruptly.
