MK changed my (not only musical) life: I remember it was my football club's birthday party; I had to go, but my fear was that I would miss the radio broadcast of this concert. I slipped away to listen to the concert on the car radio in my father's car. I had discovered Dire Straits two years before and it was really the most important thing in my teenage life. The Dire Straits phenomenon was huge at that time. It was afterwards a long time to wait and hope for a new album that finally came out in 1991. I went to the Paris Bercy concerts in 91 and 92 with my father; he was as stuck as we were by the musical level. More than 30 years later, nothing and nobody has equalled MK.

I watched this in September 1988 on TV. That was the first time I ever saw them both. Since then, I'm in love with their music and listened to this particular concert through for like a few thousand times. The coda to 'Sultans of Swing' is timeless. And 'Walk of Life' here is the best of all versions, particularly because of the boost from Clapton.

I watched it live back in 1988, was already a huge Dire Straits fan back then but had no idea Eric Clapton would be there - Wonderful Tonight has always been my favourite EC song so I was in heaven. Also, note Claptons very cool but strange sounding solo in Money For Nothing - he had just lost one of the strings on his guitar, so just whipped out a brilliant solo with a missing string. Class!
