This song deserved more credit than it got, I think it's of the best songs created by Dire Straits.

@@mattiadei8402 that's an ignorant statement. Sultans has been very important for dire Straits' success and is one of their most famous songs for a reason because it is absolutely iconic. Might not be the best Dire Straits song but I totally get why it would be someones favorite song, it's beautiful.

What a masterpiece, better live than the album version. No over production, pure pre-digital, pre over dubbed crap, just good "raw" music and what a talent, Who knew in 1979 what this man and band could do

In the late 70's, when I was 10, one of my best friend's uncle had a Renault 8. He was crazy about DS music. It takes without saying that every time he took us a ride a DS tape played at full blew up our ears. And that was the way I fell hooked by MK's drug music ever since.

Do you know about who he is talking about? I think maybe himself..
@kiwitihi4606 Жыл бұрын
@@kumarmusic6691 He's stated this song was made for "John", But clearly it's not about John Lennon, because this song was made in 1979, so people believe its about a close friend of his named John, Dying in a Motorcycle accident. Hence the lyrics "His motor is fine. He take it over the line." and "he's too fast to stop." Edit: So in his 1980 concert he actually stated this song was for John Lennon, as in he was gonna play it in his honor. Not that the song was made about him. Sorry for making a complex reply 😅
