Why don’t you use any terp or solvent? You always say you don’t but I can’t remember you explaining really precisely why. Thank you Stephen. Invaluable education and entertainment

@@stephenbaumanartwork allright thanks. Led white too useful to be phased out? Haha no but thank you for the answer. Do you feel it has any advantages or effects you’re missing out on? Even if they’re not great enough to make up for the health risk?

I was told to never use graphite on a canvas because being a lubricant will e,merge later on.

I have heard mention of this- also heard the alternative. I haven't observed it in my own work with some paintings being observed for 2+ years. I am interested to see an example of this happening.

Great informative lesson! Don't mean to contradict, but an imprimatura will be quite stable and dry faster using only odorless mineral spirit or OMS with a little linseed oil.
@stephenbaumanartwork

It’s totally true. I am solvent free though- hence the drops of linseed.

what canvas options and medium do you recommend cause i dont know if its my canvas or the linsid oil iam using i have to use so much oil and so much paint even to get 1 good stroke , whenever i see people working with such small patches of paint and such little amount of oil & getting the strokes they need its kinda hard , also the idea of using a synthetic brush with oil paint has not worked for me the consistency of my material is not liquid enough i think? any suggestions?

I think that the ground you work on is very important- this is oil primed linen.
@sayitsjose
