Chris literally did the right thing choosing Daniel Radcliffe to play Harry Potter, so I think we, us potterheads, should give this man credit for doing just that.

Columbus was perfect for the beginning Harry Potter movies. He knew how to create magic and extract the best performances from children.

Most definitely. The guy wrote Goonies for gods sake. Although I do think it was a good that he only directed the first two. After Chamber of Secrets, the innocence of the series begins to fade as the characters grow older and Chris is not who has handled serious subjects and adults themes well in the past

@@DojoMuppet technically Ms doubtfire has adult themes as well, especially divorces and platonic love of ex couples handling their children.

It's sad that no one interviews like this anymore. This isn't the best interview I've seen, but I feel like movies from before 2010 were really critically analyzed by the media. Maybe it's just me.

Chris Columbus was a very great director. The film home alone was a great christmas film to childreen. Macaulay Culkin was a sweet boy. I loved this film to my childhood. The film was funny. I miss my chilhood, I never forget this time in my life. I was born in the year 1984. That was the best time in my life.

He comes across as an awfully nice man, very, very friendly and approachable. What he did with "Harry Potter" is wonderful; what Cuarón did was very much needed, but without Columbus, there wouldn't be a franchise.

Columbus waited for his Hogwarts letter? Cannot happen because Hogwarts accepts students only from the British Isles (Ireland & U.K.) United States has its own school - Ilvermony. but no one knew about Ilvernony until it was revealed in Fantastic Beasts & Pottermore.

Ironic that one of Hogwarts students Susan Bones, the one who was actually shown being sorted into Hufflepuff was played by his daughter Eleanor. One of the few exceptions of Rowling's request for an entirely British cast.

The later movies just didnt have the same charm, wonder, and sense of adventure as the first few. While you can argue some of that is because the stories got darker, i think the far more true reason is that Chris Columbus's visioncwas no longer present. So thankful for the matseprieces he made.

When is an interviewer gonna ask him the obvious question: Why do most of his film (Adventures in Babysitting, Heartbreak Hotel, Home Alone, Mrs. Doubtfire, Rent) take place inside of a home or building? Even the Harry Potter films are boarding school thrillers disguised as fantasy stories. Did somebody abuse him as a child inside of a home that he once loved and now he can never look at home the same way? Is he just a magazine-collecting, inside person? Am I reading too far into it? Possibly so, but tell me. Don't you expect more rape and murder and good ol' swashbuckling from a guy who's named after Christopher Columbus, the man who made pirate ship adventuring cool again?

So how exactly did this hack of a director manage to adapt the first 2 Harry Potter books to the screen just fine and faithful to the source material but then he messed the Percy Jackson movie up so badly huh? How does that happen? He did a fine job with HP but an awful job with Percy Jackson. Just how?
