Born and raised in Mexico City, director Fernando Frías presents his award-winning film, Ya No Estoy Aquí, set in the mountains of Monterrey, one of the northernmost cities in Mexico. The film follows Kolombias, a distinctive urban tribe from the violence-plagued regions of the country that once created a countercultural movement around their love for old-fashioned cumbia music.

I really love this movie!!! At first I was confused because I was hearing a Mexican American accent but I was looking at what I thought looked like indigenous Columbian people, so it sent me on a search to learn about indigenous people of Mexico, so thank you ❤, and the music is fantastic. it reminded me of my time of dancing in the streets of Columbia with my friends.

This film reflected a lot on me, I am from a family that lives in a part of the city like Ulises's but in the neighbor state, Coahuila, my relatives are like Ulises, I lived through the shootings of that time in Mexico when I was 9 years old and I had to see deaths and blood many times happen just over my home, in my roof, or at my door not kidding, I moved to another part of the city and my family had to restart their lives. This film identifies me as the other face of the neighborhoods touched by the narco, The innocents who mix with the drug dealers, not because we are also drug dealers, but because they are our cousins, our neighbors, who are forced to work at it and cannot refuse.
