You're right that the song and visuals are so outstanding that you don't need to know whether the MV has a story or is just a random series of babe shots but imo Egotistic is even more impressive when you pick up on what they're doing and why they're doing it. Egotistic is title track #2 in Mamamoo's four album 4 Season 4 Color series, in which each album had a theme season & color and each title track explored an emotional stage in a four part cycle of love. Given how hot this song & MV are you can probably guess that this was on the Summer/Red album and the emotion was Passion. In the MV each member expresses her own take on Red & Passion via her wardrobe, actions and props and each seems to represent a stage in leaving an egotistic jerk of a lover. Here's a summary: Anger: Moonbyul tosses chair, speaks down to him from the balcony. Red/Passion: strong, confident, independent. Defiance: Hwasa stares down the jaguar. Red/Passion: wild, fierce, uninhibited (jungle bath). Revenge: Wheein burns his guitar in effigy. Red/Passion: badass bitch on wheels, hot tempered, impulsive. Liberation: Solar flies on the pole. Red/Passion: Sexy, sensual, provocative (wardrobe, come hither looks into the camera). Since you're a director I also recommend you check out the beginning of the MV for the sequence of images representing the genesis of the song and explaining why they went with a latin concept for the song & MV. First we see a tear in Moonbyul's eye, obviously expressing the pain and turmoil of her passionate emotional state, and then the Red Moon logo (the album title is Red Moon), which symbolizes the beginning of the creative process in her mind's eye. Meanwhile we're getting the Spanish guitar intro, clueing us into the passion and duende of flamenco as the primal emotional source of the art. The creation of the kpop meets reggaeton song that results is symbolized by the Red Moon logo turning into a necklace when the artistic concept is realized - the word made flesh, so to speak. Along the way from Spain to Korea the music has met other cultures and transformed in exciting new ways and so we get everything from the reggaeton beat in the music to the Spanish diaspora imagery of the MV with the Latin American big cat, hacienda style set, the various styles of clothing, and even a car that looks like it belongs in Havana or East LA. Egotistic is a great example of kpop blending musical and cultural influences from around the world and turning them into something fresh and exciting.

OMG, I laughed so hard! Thank you so much for your reaction video. I really enjoyed it, as always. They're just phenomenal. Can you imagine how amazing that year was? We received three albums in 2018, with the last one released in March 2019 because of the Winter Olympics. That was 4S4C project. They're incredibly talented and still working so hard. I just freaking love with all of them too.

Somehow i had totally forgotten that you hadn't watched Egotistic yet. Definitely one of their best MVs and your reactions were everything i'd hoped for. Lol😂 It does remind me, though, that you still haven't seen Immortal Songs Medley, which is a shame. It's quite possibly their best live concert performance ever and just about tied with their Killing Voice for the most popular and most loved Mamamoo performances. I personally think it's one of the greatest vocal group performances of all time. Yeah, you heard me right. It's stunningly good! Anyway, I'm glad you got to enjoy Egotistic. It will always be one of my favorites for so many reasons.

This was the first video I ever saw from Mamamoo! I was instantly hooked. This is some grown-ass women's k-pop! It changed my whole perception of the genre. You are so right about them being all-stars! Every member is exceptional They are a supergroup! I am glad you got to this!

MAMAMOO+ are moonbyul and solar (stayed in the current company), since hwasa and wheein transfer to different companies, but they all work still as a whole as MAMAMOO

OMG... You really NEED to check out SEVENTEEN's cover of "Egotistic" that they performed at the 2019 MBC Music Festival!!! It is soooooooo good!!! It's not even the full version (just under 2 minutes), but it is a truly unforgettable performance! Hoshi doing Hwasa's part & Seungkwan covering Solar's, were both chefs kiss!!! And the original choreography they did for it was immaculate, which is even crazier when you know that Hoshi created the whole thing in under an hour!!! 🤯 MAMAMOO then followed it up with their cover version of SEVENTEEN's Aju Nice, and then both groups came together to perform a mash up of 2 of their other songs (넌 is 뭔들 + Clap) on stage that night, that was super cute! It was wild to have that much ultimate top-tier talent, all together on one stage, at the same time!
