Regarding this song, ONEW said, ``I wanted to learn operatic vocalization so that I could sing better as SHINEE's vocalist.'' And he chose "Nessun dorma" as his practice song. There are many professional opera singers who can sing this song better than him, but his spirit is priceless. This was a solo song performed at Tokyo Dome. It may be hard to convey in the video, but everyone in the dome was stunned by the power of his voice. For a moment, I had no idea where I was or what concert I had come to.😍😍😍

@ThisRoscoe ups and downs bro. Dad had a stroke a few weeks back but he is doing well and on the mend. Other than that I've been well. My brother and sis in law had a baby boy about 6 months ago and my daughter is dead set on making him a Stay. Lol

Onew's performance of "Nessun Dorma" was performed in 2016 as a solo stage during one of SHINee's Japanese concerts, but it is not the first time Onew has performed this song, he has been performing it since SHINee's early days. Whether it's a performance from 2011 or this one from 2016, there isn't much difference -- his voice is a little more mature in 2016, but it was still impressive from the beginning. Onew is not classically trained in opera, but he had been training as a singer for more than 10 years when this performance took place, and he has an amazing range and understanding of his voice. He is also a musical stage actor, so he understands how to project his voice to the back of the theater and he knows how to tell a story through the performance of the song. As you know, "Nessun Dorma" is an Italian song, so I am sure he spent time studying an original version of the song, and really worked on perfecting the pronunciation of the words. He doesn't speak Italian, but he could fool you into thinking he can with this performance. ;p Onew is known for having clear and perfect diction and pronunciation when it comes to languages. He, and all the SHINee members, seem to have an ear for being able to pick up on the nuances, inflections and phrasing in different languages that make them seem like native speakers. It's that attention to detail that makes them that much more impressive. You're right, Onew is a member of SHINee, so you know it will be an amazing performance.That's why the members of SHINee are some of the most well respected singers and artists, and why they are one of the top groups in the industry. SHINee are the golden standard when it comes to live performances. It's literally known as the SHINee standard, and it's what all other groups strive to reach. If you are impressed with Onew's vocal range in this performance, just wait until you see his performance of "Friend." Onew broke the record for the longest continuous note at 40+ seconds, just because he could. I believe that this performance was at the Tokyo Dome in Japan, so there were 55,000 fans in that audience, and, yet, listen to how quiet the whole audience is. They are all just as speechless as you. :) The Tokyo Dome is one of the largest concert venues in Japan and there is an unwritten rule that in order to get permission to hold an event there you have to be able to fill it to capacity. SHINee are so popular as Japanese artists that they are one of the few acts that are actually asked by the concert promoters to hold another concert there. Most people have to ask to hold an event at the Tokyo Dome, but with SHINee, executives actually contact SM and ask them to please hold another event there. SHINee are so popular in Japan that they know they will have no problem selling out within minutes of tickets going on sale and most likely they will have to have multiple day events because fan demand will be so high. SHINee has even held fan meeting events at the Tokyo Dome that weren't even full concerts and were still able to sell out. Which just goes to show you, how popular they really are.

Onew srill has the unbeaten record for the longest note without taking a breath I believe. Over 40 seconds long. After him is Jonghyuns for stranger at 15.48 seconds long.

The depth in SHINee is really unbelievable. They all have their own colours, this being part of Onews. First time I came across this performance think I played it 6X non stop. Please react to Onew's Rainy Blue Solo Stage with Taemin it could be his first solo stage after vocal surgery, the little I know was after vocal surgery there was risk of not being able to sing again. After several months of not talking he had to learn how to sing all over again. Lucky the outcome was successful. This might be Onew's first singing solo after the operation, so emotional for him hence the tears.

I love Onew's voice!! He had to have surgery to have polyps removed from his vocal cords a few yrs back and he thought he'd never sing again. He comes back and his he sings Rainy Blue which was written by a Japanese singer who also had the same surgery but was never able to sing again. It's a beautiful performance with Taemin playing the piano for him. Simply beautiful like this performace but it carried so much weight and emotions behind it bc of the situation and the writer of the song, etc.

Oh, and Onew has been in KDrama as well, the most recognizable is Descendants of the Sun. I love it when first-time reactors watch SHINee MVs and whenever Onew starts singing, they always stop the MV and say, who's that, who's that singing that?? The comments are all about his unique tone, but SHINee's harmony is what makes them uniquely SHINee. Individually, they're scary, though, right??

He's awesome especially singing Nessun Dorma live. His name is pronounced On-yu. As a half Italian half Asian (also having lived in Italy and I'm fluent in Italian) He has a good accent. A few errors here and there but it's normal, especially with certain sound differences between languages in gerenral. I make mistakes sometimes when I talk to my mother and she corrects me. lol. I'm sure it was nerve-racking for him having to sing it live and in another language. It was awesome.
