the entire album is impeccable, from start to finish, and was considered by Billboard as the best Kpop album released in 2023, I recommend you listen, it's a mix of emotions

The goblin cat is a homage to the MV director's own cat that just passed away right before the MV shooting and he said in his IG that Circle was very healing and decided to include him on the MV and Jinki of course said YES!

Onew solo is different. Shinee in general is amazing cause their 4 (5) solo careers are nothing like their group stuff but Onew especially has his own vibe. I (who has never listened to KPOP before less than a year ago) adore this song and the album it´s on. It´s not a ´Banger´, it doesn´t ´go hard´ but it expresses something that I (a grown man) genuinely can´t express without music 🥰 This is just special to me!

@@milindawilson9175 Fair point (and changed). You have to be patient with me as I wrote I discovered Shinee (and all of Kpop) less than a year ago. And with his tragic loss a few years ago I don´t have the same connection as you guys do. I respect the sentiment fully though 🤗

O (Circle) for me is one of the most perfect albums ever made! And I´m NOT a Kpop fanboy who calls everything Kpop the greatest or an OG Shinee stan. I have never actively listened to Kpop in my life before last Winter and I´m a grown man in my 30s. But this album is pure MAGIC! It catches my moods about the world, my life, my feeling so perfectly and when you listened through it once over (full circle) you feel like you`ve been on a complete journey. And listening through the album while just taking a walk is grounding my stress and anxieties like very few other things 💕💕

Onew's "O (Circle)" is the title track from his solo Circle album, which came out in March 2023. It's his fourth solo album overall after his solo debut in 2018 with his Voice album, then his follow up album Dice in 2022 and his Japanese solo album Life Goes On also in 2022. In one of Onew's behind the scenes videos he explained his "O (Circle)" MV is depicting the different stages of a person's heart. The "Children's Park" -- or, as I like to think of it, the set of a children's TV show -- is supposed to represent the happy, playful child's heart. The peach tent area that we see him sitting in is supposed to represent the inside of a whale's stomach, depicting the story of his previous B-side song "In the Whale," which is a song he wrote for fans and is on his previous Dice album. And the dark grey set is supposed to be a mature adult's heart, depicting what a person has to go through in order to reach adulthood, etc. The album and song is called "Circle" because it represents the circle of life and how everything is connected like the changing of seasons. Onew was involved in all aspects of everything to do with this album, including songwriting, multiple rounds of recording, mixing and mastering, and album design and style, etc. In one interview he said, with this album he wanted to "broaden the spectrum" of his music and he considered it a "stepping stone" for his future work. The "O (Circle)" MV was directed by the same director, who directed SHINee's "The Feeling" MV, so you may have noticed that they have a similar feeling and aesthetic. And, as always, Onew is a member of SHINee, so none of his songs or albums will ever be the same. Everything he releases is meant to be something completely new and fresh that we have never heard or seen from him before. Of course, he is an amazing singer and performer. That's why the members of SHINee are some of the most well-respected singers and artists, and why they are one of the top groups in the industry. SHINee are the golden standard. It's literally known as the SHINee standard, and it's what all other groups strive to reach. Onew is considered one of the premiere vocalists in the industry, who is known for being the male vocalist with the most consistent vocals. He is one of the vocalists that vocal coaches use as an example of what people should try to emulate in order to become a great singer. He has been one of SHINee's main vocalists since debut and he is recognized as one of the top vocalists in Kpop since even before debut. Onew was only one of two people ever personally cast by Lee SooMan, the founder of SM, and he was chosen at age 16/17 for his outstanding vocal ability. Onew's vocals are so good that as a rookie he was even a vocal coach and mentor to a lot of SM's trainees, including several members of EXO.

The entire album is amazing and I recommend you listen to it in order. I find it very comforting. Onew is one of the best vocalists in kpop and his voice is very unique. He was part of a show called Sea of Hope and I love all the songs he sang. There are soft songs, happy songs and ballads, but I suggest you check out Selene 6.23. Don't miss it!

Your perplexed preoccupation with the mangy cat made me lol. Maybe the cat signifies that life always throws a curve lol. Onew is a true artist and Circle is art ❤ Love the videos of Onew you’ve reacted to so far….you would appreciate Blue and Rainy Blue. Both have back stories tho. The raggedy cat reminds me of Grizabella from the Cats broadway show. It’s been through things and what it looks like now as you perceive it is not the sum of its life or experiences. Very few of us leave this world looking our best.

This video is exactly when I noticed Onew getting thinner and thinner and looking more tired and sick. Ultimately leading to his lengthy hiatus. I do t think any of us truly know what transpired in his life but I bet we can all agree it feels amazing to have him back healthy and well!

I saw someone in his comments ask about the section of Onew sitting in the stomach... Many people have said that it's a reference to his song In the Whale, which was dedicated to his fans. So yes... that scene is actually supposed to reference him being inside a stomach, a whale's specifically.

First commentttt~. Onew is my ult bias! I love this song so much it's my alarm clock (and my backup is Hug by TVXQ)... I don't recall what the cat symbolizes but I think that him being rough looking is trying to nod towards that even those who have hard lives are worth being related to. Like are worth learning about, worth loving, worth to give his heart happiness. I know that the tunnel is like a play on journeys of life and a heart chamber. The changing images in the beginning are all dedicated to the members of SHINee and his journey with them. For example, the use of lizards, dinosaurs and dragons generally symbolizes Jonghyun.

If I remember correctly, I read something about the cat being modelled after the deceased cat of the MV director. I adore the cat, I find it cute and very touching. I guess some people are more into pretty pets but I always find ugly or wonky pets cuter.

about the cat, there's a lot of theories, towards the end there's a 8 stories about eternity, cats is said to have 9 lives. It's on it's last life. humans have one life. and yes it's definitely a truman show reference. onew has called that scene with books rainbow, he calls that character a baby/child, so it's going thru a life cycle too. like a loop, a circle. also onew's mv always have some kind of weird whimsy so i think it's his thing too. don't overthink the cat lol.

Absolutely beautiful. SHINee and it's members knock it out of the park again. Between this and Guilty, and Good and Great, and the entire Hard Album, and Stay for a Night ... The lyricist is Kim Eana, more than 20 years in the business, she has written some VERY big songs including11:11 and INVU by Taeyeon, and most of IU's early career hits.

Can you do SM Ballad Hot Times. You’ll see Jonghyun with 3 of SM’s top singers but SM added him because of his talent. He a wee s younger than the guys but it’s an “amazing” and you’ll see how talented he is. Circle Onew is so good!!

I like your reactions! You notice something special about each performer! Circle is the favorite song on this album🥰 🙏I hope you will pay attention to the new release of ONEW, the FLOW album, especially MV beat drum and the cycle of live performances by Maestro and Hola 💙 Maestro is a special song. I don't know how to describe it, as if Onew left sm starting over in Griffin singing about himself (haha, but these are just my thoughts)

cats, loneliness, the truman show, whales: the MV director's cat passed away before this and jinki decided to add it there as a way of comfort because the song is all about the cycle of everything we go through. literally in the lyrics: greetings and farewells. also personally i think it represents the ugly in us that slowly get healed as we cycle through childhood memories and adult pain (the children's toys and loneliness respectively) 2. eternity in the crossword: beginning is homage to everything everywhere all at once which speaks for itself 3. the season 2 is then an homage to the truman show, especially with the camera pov, film equipment, ladder and the ending of leaving! again the cat is there as an audience with morbid curiosity about this strange, made up and hyper-watched world (like fame, eh?) 4. whale: jinki is inside a whale when he's wearing white as a nod to his song 'in the whale' from dice which he helped write talking about his fans. it's a gorgeous gorgeous song and you should listen to it but basically even in a whale we have each other.
