Wow! The amount of views this video has gotten is insane! Thank you guys for watching the video. Since there’s many new viewers I want to make sure all of you guys understand that my channel is mostly model breakdowns, this is my interpretation of what I saw on the models and not necessarily my forecast. While the models did show a historic blizzard we do often times see these storms move around or change in intensity as I mention throughout the video. We are far more confident in the severe cold temperatures which have a really good chance of being some of the coldest we’ve seen in a long time.

This made me check my local long range Forcast for my area from one of our newstations, and sure enough, starting on the 6th, things start to bottom out. Freezing rain on the morning of the 7th. Right now, it only goes to the 8th, but temps for the 7th and 8th are highs around freezing and lows in the middle teens. Now, ahead of that, starting on the 1st through the 6th temps are in the 40s for highs, upper 20s to mid 20s for lows and dropping, with chances for precipitation, but on the low end right now. This does remind me of 93 where they started out with just a small chance of snow and then upped it every day. If anyone wonders, I'm located in northeast alabama in Jackson county on sand mtn.

The 1978 Buffalo blizzard pretty much wrecked that city's future. The airport there was closed for maybe two weeks, preventing people from flying to Florida. In New York City then, newly elected Mayor Koch left the borough of Queens un-plowed while the Sanitation Department put all its efforts clearing Manhattan streets and sidewalks. Especially bad was that NYC got hit by two snowstorms, maybe four days apart. Koch did nothing about the first in Queens, so the snow was three feet deep by sidewalks for weeks. Alternate side of the street parking regulations were suspended for maybe six weeks because of the snow. That parking ticketing suspension was Koch's big concern, since his political backers were looting the Parking Violation Bureau. In Ohio then, power plants were running short on coal because coal barges had to deal with thick river ice and the coal itself was frozen by the cold weather. The big worry in the 1970s was a new global ice age.

It’s been a different story out west so far I’ve never seen a Winter season so weak here in the state of MT infrequent snows and only a couple inches fall and most of it melts in the following days as it frequently dips above freezing now I haven’t seen any brutal sub zero temperatures it’s almost like a temperature climate here now rather than a continental climate because it just doesn’t get brutally cold or snow heavily anymore at least for now maybe it’s just a very late delay in Winter but I’m really hoping it stays mild for the whole season.

So far up here in North Eastern Maine, it has been a mild winter. Yesterday was 40⁰ today it was almost 50⁰. We do not consider it cold until the night time temps go below 0⁰ As of right now, at 10:30 pm. It is 35⁰ outside at the end of December in northeastern Maine.
@shanelizotte631818 күн бұрын
I’m in the same area. From what I’ve observed over the years the weather pattern that is in place in December is what seems to dictate what kind of winter we will have. If it’s -30 in December and snowing like crazy then it will be a rough winter. We got none of that this December. The euro model showing over 40 inches of snow for our area for the next two weeks is nothing short of lunacy.

your Temps are way off for next week in the northeast...50-60 from Monday to Wednesday..unusually WARM...and then only going into the 40's...also ocean Temps are 5 degrees above normal, so any storms coming up the coast will pull in warmer air off ocean and bring rain...this has been the new normal for 9 years now in the northeast

@@JoseRodriguez-og7yz the cold spell coming next week isn't anything out the ordinary for winter...certainly not "lifetime unique" and the jet stream is pushing south off the coast wich will keep storms away from the northeast...so its going to be dry and cold...30's...these weather youtubers sensationalize and grandstand scenarios that don't materialize. Other than that I don't have a problem with it, yet facts are facts the earth is warming and "winter" struggles to materialize relative to historical "norms" the ocean stays warmer longer maybe in February a big storm will hit the northeast but its been far far too warm so far and jet stream is not setting up to do it now.

I felt the same way about snow when I lived there. After moving North, I enjoyed it for about 5 years. Now it's just a hassle. Unlike in the South, the snow has to be over 5 or 6 inches sometimes more, before the schools even consider closing. If you work, your job still expects you to show up. Heavy snow is not an excuse to miss work. Did I mention power outages during the coldest time of the year? Snow can be very disruptive and a real pain in the a^^.
