Fargo’s is actually a very popular mod from Terraria. It would make you search the whole world to make very powerful accessories that could be combined to form one extremely powerful accessory. Neat to see it in Minecraft, wonder how well it’s implemented.

From my experience, biggest issue were fruits dropped from hitting trees and those goddamned paintings. Playing it second time I downloaded mod that lets me move npcs instantly without guilt.

Hey Dire! Fargo's is a mod that started in (and is still updated for) the Terraria modding scene, and it does about the same thing here as it does in that game- adds charms (or accessories in terraria) with unique, powerful effects. The charms then get smushed together into clusters (usually segmented by categories, like "hostile mob" for example), which are also equippable, and basically just combine all the components into one uber charm. And then those clusters get smushed into even more op accessories, yada yada.

The tree felling mod is a pretty good compromise between not giving the players super easy access to a vein miner from the start and also reducing the tedium of early wood gathering/tree clearing.

Bummer. I like to play along with Dire in the same world, but it seems some world generation mod changed from when Dire started to today. While I also started in a village using his seed, the village and the world around it are quite different from what Dire has.

@@Blahander I've never seen it since that pack. If you're familiar with Rick and Morty, it summoned a Meeseeks. If not, it basically summoned a golem that could do a simple task like chop down a tree, mine to bedrock and place a staircase, etc.

Watching people play modded minecraft is what first got me using youtube when it was a fairly new thing. It's crazy to see people like direwolf20 and captainsparklez still almost exclusively doing minecraft content almost a decade and a half later and that they're still making a living off of the millions of people still watching them.

sev tech didnt start punching wood it was collecting rocks and sticks if i remember right and there are some skyblocks that have different starts suchas modern skyblock i think 2 its one of them that has you have an option to work towards a tree in various methods

Hey Dire, whenever you feel like not building a 9x9 structure anymore, you can offer the public to build a house or base for you, a starter one and a more advance one with other rooms too. Since there's several mods that can save entire buildings, you just need to get the resources and automatically build them! Just a suggestion! Never mind if you didn't like the idea. i really like dire's videos because they feel like the last bastion of old school youtube. lots of modern youtubers are very loud and have tons of bright flashy colors and interrupt the videos with sponsors for products that are usually scams, but dire just sticks to what works. it's funny because his video style has barely changed in 11 years behond maybe getting a better mic, but it doesn't feel like he's stagnated at all. keep doin what you're doin dire

I always suggest in any modpack with minecolonies, first, make tools from a tool mod, then make either a supply camp or supply ship. You get only get 1 freebie, but it can get you a nice amount of supplies that act as a basecamp.

Its always funny watching Direwolf start a new series he starts the way OG players start saves super slow insta skip night hide underground wont explore structures. Where as most people evolved their playstyle over the years to to basically speedrun to full iron gear before night 1 dire always gets iron gear on like day 6 or 7

I really want to give this a go but I'm 99% sure my computer won't run minecraft past 1.7/1.8. Such a shame as Direwolf introduced me to modded Minecraft in my early adult years(maybe even late teens🤷‍♂️), I have very fond memories of the old packs and now years later as I reach my 30s(!)I'm finding him again and enjoying all the content I missed. 😁 Just wish I could follow along 😂

RLCraft is a pack you don't start by punching wood. You actually have to punch gravel first instead. Punching a tree yields nothing.

7:00 Actually IIRC SevTech Ages starts out where you can't punch trees -- you have to first make a flint hatchet (this is one of my all time favorite modpacks mostly due to how its questbook worked differently as opposed to very nearly almost all other questbooks)

The only way I could, reasonably, think of to start by not punching a tree is a kind of Skyblock where you start with a bit of grass and need to get "tree seeds" like other seeds first, as a sort of alternative start method to Skyblock 4.

What little ive tried of this so far, it looks like it could become one of the better DW20 packs, but its a bit hard to tell so far since theres really nothing in it yet. Apart from AE2, Mekanism and a half baked version of Ender IO, playing this right now kinda feels like playing vanilla with 200 support mods installed. I think I will stick on the 1.20 pack until this one matures a bit and gets a bit more of the staple mods one would expect to see in a DW pack, but I will be keeping my eye on it and it does look like it could be one of the better packs. Really hoping some of the mod authors gets motivated now that theres a lets play going!

Have you guys considered using the capsules mod? So you can place down a camp in the early game just to store some of your excess loot. I think that would make the start a lot smoother and it makes it better for players to find a place to start their build easier as they can move their camp from one place to the next with all their early game essentials like a bed and some basic chests

I feel like easy villagers is not only very helpful as a quality of life mod but it's a performance mod as well seeing as you consolidate a lot of mechanics of the game into one block. I feel like it's a bit of a must have for most mod packs at this point. I much prefer it to making iron farms the vanilla way mostly because of performance reasons.

Not happy. I always, since 1.3, have played the same seed and built on the same place but the "seed" is not working properly or maybe the mod that forces a village spawn is randomising the location.

World Gen had a massive over haul back in the Caves and Cliffs pt2 update. Seeds are different from vers.1.18 onward.

There are packs you don't punch wood. Typically the 'realism' ones, where you need to find twigs on the ground or punch leaves for sticks, then make basic flint tools.

Funny thing is that u got pretty lucky with the the seed because u actually can go to the nether from the beginning using only the nether monument and stuff in the chest next to it including the fire charge.

While I agree completely that mining 64 blocks from go is a little silly, I think something like Treecapitator is absolutely fair and isn't too game breaky. Not sure if it is on this version of MC or not. I'll probably add it to my pack, but I love the pack as it stands.

@@JanHardeel i tried 2 modpacks and none of them worked the game doesnt even start it just crashes.. the pack from this video said i need to update my graphic driver even though im on the latest version of it and i tried atm 9 and it just installs fine but the game crashes and i get error exit code 1
