What an extraordinarily intelligent and elegant man was Dirk Bogarde.

Dirk Bogarde certainly does interview well. A charming man, and a great actor.

He was such a fascinating man, you had to really be at the top of your game interviewing him. He didn’t suffer fools gladly!

Mi actor preferido siempre, afortunadamente lo puedo admirar, pues los actores nunca nos dejan. R.I.P. From Mallorca recuerdos .

He was the nicest person when he arrived in the studio and greeted all of the production crew.

The Servant is an excellent film. Every actor is good in it. Losey never directed better,

Mark Caldwell looks just like my first boyfriend. His name was Mark. Just saying. Dirk Bogarde was the epitome of looks, class, style, charisma, eloquence, etc.

"Death in Venice" brought me here. I became really interested in Bogarde after watching that hilarious movie. Bogarde was extremely perfect in this Visconties masterpiece.

Dirk never took too kindly to interviews, he did like Russel Harty though! My prize possessions are my postcards from Dirk written in the late 1980's when I was doing my GCSE's. I have all of his books all of which were read back to front!! I even have Sheridan Morley's 'Rank Outsider' and the two books by John Coldstream.
@allisonjeancroton701711 жыл бұрын
I agree with you about Morely and John Coldstream's was much better. Dirk advised me to read his autobiography for any information I needed. The second one thanked me for the drawing I sent him and for my kind wishes for his birthday.

To be fair on Bogarde he is trying to put Mark Caldwell at ease. Imagine if he had to be interviewed by Lorraine Kelly!

Was British Television still black and white in 1975?! I've seen color Top Of The Pops shows from 1972.

UK TV on BBC 2 went into colour in 1967. This was recorded at an educational studio that was still in black and white.

Thanks for the reply sadly harty would die two years after above the title I wish I could have known Brigitte Bardot aged 18 but I wasn’t alive I always wondered why Dirk made modesty Blaise as a favor to Joseph losey no doubt what an incredible actor can’t believe he was never nominated for an Oscar

A great actor, yes, but not thne easiest of interviewees. Well done Mark, but could have done with some intros to the clips in post.
@MrDavey2010 Жыл бұрын
Bogarde was always wary when being interviewed as he was terrified that his sexuality would be addressed. Such a shame.
@buddyvilla73932 жыл бұрын
Dirk does seem much more relaxed than his lengthy chat with Russell harty 11years later in above the title title I’ve been wondering what happened to mark Caldwell thanks for answering didn’t know his family ties to Jarvis maybe Dirk was more relaxed cuz most of the questions are about his films not his personal life I still like victim better than the servant

Mark initially worked for BFBS and then Deutsche Welle both located in Germany, where he's now retired.
