These early C3s are getting scarce on the internet and the prices are going up and up. Beautiful.. absolutely gorgeous cars.

I'm impressed that a German wants an American car albeit a great one. We sure like their cars, which have generally been the best in the world over the years.

As I am the guy who bought this, I like her with all those spots and problems... And it sounds awesome with those Flowmasters.... :) Must apologize for my quite not perfect english, not my native language... ;) My primary aim is to make this one a nice driver, so the technical issues are most important. Leaks, wipers, horn, gauges (except the clock of course) have to be fixed first. It will receive a new paintjob, probably next summer. And I bought a set of new Cooper Cobra tires to get rid of those antique security risks which were rubber once. What I don't really care of are for example the year incorrect door locks, shifter knob, steering wheel (I like this one thou). Things like this can be changed back time after time, not into selling it after half a year. A few things will get fixed by Ben before it leaves the US, others will be done by me. We are in progress to figure them out. Maybe some of the the needed parts will come with the car to save shipping costs (for example the new Edelbrock carb Ben already installed is +50% in Germany), depends on the space left inside as the original seats were also included and are standing in Bens garage. So with some work, we might to back to factory seats and sell the C5 ones. Don't know the needed amount of work for that change yet as the seat installation will be different. Maybe anyone has already done so? P.S.: 2 of the 4 lines were the transmission cooling lines, Ben figured that out already.

when i connect the gauges and then turn on the key the fuse burns right up it is a 1975 corvette. There is a 10 amp fuse. should the lights for the gauges be in the housing. also it blows my directional fuse. If i unplug all the gauges but new fuse in it does not blow.

Thought you once advised your following to be careful buying site unseen? Glad you're in the business of cars (even to make money). Moving them out and getting new units in is all about your bottom line, $$$$. Nice video. Good luck on the sale.
@TheCorvetteBen8 жыл бұрын
You are right, I still advise people not to buy sight unseen BUT in the case of people over seas, if they HAVE to buy sight unseen, then then need to get pictures of key places on the car, which Dirk did a good job doing. Once we knew the car was rust free and had a straight frame, the rest is easily fixable.
@Pommfriedel8 жыл бұрын
That's true. The problem for getting an C3 or every other classic US car in Europe is easy described. You have quite a lot of US car fans and drivers in Germany, but those who sell one are divided in two groups: a) they have a nearly perfect restored car and call prices which are far beyond reality b) they imported a bunch of crap or have their classic got rotten over years and want to get rid of it, those ones are nearly not fixable for an acceptable range of money. Very difficult to get a nice driver. So I'm in contact with Ben for my Corvette search for about 2 years now and we figured out what I want and what will be possible. I love especially the rear chrome bumper, so max. 73 was the option. As the earlier C3 are too expensive for me, I decided to go for a 73 and the decision for a 350 was because of the spare parts available in Germany. Not many BB C3 here and more difficult to get parts. So most important - as Ben already mentioned - were solid frame and birdcage. And that seems both good with this one.

I think it would be neat to see Dirk make a video or two when the car arrives in Germany. What happens to it there and what gets done. Nice video, I like the lightly longer videos.

Its a labor of love cause the 77's just don;t hold much value. I'm currently working on a modified 77 that is cool as hell and in great condition that sat for 15 years. It has a 350 magnum, RHS heads with stainless valves, b&m blower with side draft webers. It was built 25 years ago. Building it nowadays the money would never be recouped, its just a toy. I showed a couple of sneak peeks of it in the last couple of vids I made. Have fun

You would hate my 75 corvette. the paint on mine is very thin and faded and the numbers on the block say it's a early 80's truck block. but it is a solid color the only things on mine that don't work is the a/c windshield washer and emergency break. other than that it has a solid bird cage and frame.

If this Corvette is Going to Germany the State of Germany or Country Inspectors will pick it apart to determine if it is Road worthy it is an Intense Inspection. All the Lights have to be Changed to an approved German Light system. I will have to Have Wipers and working the way they should. Sometimes Tires are a Factor Depending what part of Germany it will go. I have been Buying and Building 1966 To 1973 Corvettes and selling them to People in Germany, Austria and Switzerland for the Last 10 Years. The People in Germany and Austria have to Pay for these Inspections and they must fix repair and or Replace what the Inspectors say must be Done or they will not Get a Registration. Some Parts of Germany are Different than Others on the Inspections some areas require that the Car be as it came from the Factory, I have Heard of some Corvettes could not be Registered because of Body panels being Replaced with different Year panels. Anyway make sure You and the Potential Buyer knows about this Inspection and its requirements are, oh and absolutely no Rust anywhere or they will not let the Buyer put it on the Road. there have been many Corvettes once the Car got to Germany the Buyer could not get it Registered because of some BS that the original owner did to it. Just to let you Know about this Inspection. This Registration Inspection and other things in Germany Cost the Germans a Lot of Money to just have these Cars over there and it cost them every Year to also keep them Registered. There have Been A Lot of Germans that have been Ripped off by people when they bought a Corvette in witch they would never get there Money Back or at least break even so they get pretty Mad and Can Cause a lot of Legal Problems.. I always sold them a Very Nice Drivable and clean Car all the Cars I sold Passed the Inspections, Except the Lights all lights have to be Changed to a special Lighting system and this is done by the Inspectors, they also have to have the Lights adjusted. Just for your Information.

There was no connection for water temp sensor on the passenger head. You could probably dump about 5 grand into it, including paint, and make it a nice driver. The 1975 front suspension would worry me. Was it hit real hard?

Second question im looking at a 74 convertible where the headlight boxes have been removed and replaced with permanent lights, I think ecklers used to sell the kit. I dont really like the look. why do I get the feeling it belonged to a girl or was made up for a gilr beforehand? and I say that just based on the engine coloring, as the most ghastly car I ever saw was a smiling miata third or fourth gen with a dark blue paint job, and an orange, yes orange like a pumkin orange interior that her husband bought her. and that color combination just screams something like that weird girl would do, or would have her husband do, like an eggplant engine block and a red exterior and if it got tapped in the front, check the mounts around the engine and the mounts for the front wheels, where the A and B arms are and make sure the wields are good, same with the rear as with these cars when they got crashed into was a direct injection of force into the chassis and the wields can be damaged or coming undone because of that. and on some of these cars, the chassis can be knocked out of wack by a full inch or so as theirs no real structure on the center section to keep them strong like their was on the C1. as they removed it to save weight on the C2, 300 pounds worth and they never made up for it, which makes me wonder how one of these would handle if you simply put that support back in them. also I gotta admit, this thing seems like hell in a handbasket with all of these issues mentioned here, like the over filling of the oil seems to suggest that maybe this thing might have had a long term oil leak and someone overfilled it on purpose to make up for it. and it might be better to sell it and get a better one from somewhere else. as the only Corvette Dealer I know of is Tom Falconer in England, and I doubt anyone in Deutschland would even know what the hell it is, let alone how to work on it. and the key word that keeps coming to mind the more I look at this thing is Hooptie, especially considering this is just what showed up in my suggestions kzbin.info/www/bejne/bZnTnIiZj7FpfZI while I had this playing no less kzbin.info/www/bejne/gpfKl2x-ltl8fqs
