I maintain that this is an incredibly cool guitar at an incredibly awful price point for what you’re getting.

The price is absolutely insane. The only way these things don’t get discounted is if Epiphone is making these in small batches. But if they’re cranking the, out, I’m predicting (may be just hoping) that these drop to 75% of their asking price (or lower) by the time Black Friday rolls around. Time will tell. Hopefully they offer a deeper blue in the future too.

Truly horrible pricing. Stores, if you’re stocking these, you will have to drop them at least £200 in your next sale as they will NOT go fast. It’s disgraceful by Epiphone especially when most people are worse off now due to cost of living, especially working musicians.
@magnusfiskvik50910 ай бұрын
I agree, these should have been priced at the same level as the Joe Bonamassa signature 1962 es-335, then it would be somewhat justified and I would have considered buying one, but not at this price entry! I think it must have something to do with the price on the similar Gibson firebird which also is way to pricey!
@SPARKLEJET10 ай бұрын
Hardly. I have had multiple Gibson Firebirds. 5 or 6 at a time. Currently I own a Gibson Custom Shop V in Frost Blue, a Firebird Custom (Black/Hums/Ebony), AND an original '64 FB1. Aside from the headstock saying Epiphone it seems to me this issue may be on par with anything released by Gibson proper. IF....the necks have the real '63 shape (unlike my CS V - which is big and thick - with high output ceramic pickups) - you are very mistaken in your comment. Get a grip.

Way too expensive for what? Epiphone have a standard Firebird for £550 at the moment and it does the same job? Unless I'm a muppet who thinks the same?

Great playing! I wish I could afford one right now, but does seem to be a bit pricey and not a very good value. I like the look and sound though.

Something I can NOT unsee... the pickguard... on the Gibson the pickguard goes right to the very edge of the horn... these look improper and cheap as a result of that pickguard to me

On Gibson Firebirds the pickguard does not go all the way to the edge of the horn. Check again. It does seem to go closer than these Epiphone one's do. But not all the way to the edge. I have a 2014 120th.Anniversary Gibson Firebird V and my pick guard does not go all the way to the edge of the horn and all the pictures I've looked at online, I've e never seen this. Maybe you just meant it doesn't extend as far out on these Epiphone birds? Anyway good eye and HTH
@camillebelin33219 ай бұрын
Sure. The pickguard on these epiphone is just not at the right place. On the gibson it is 0,5cm closer to the edge. I suspect the epiphone pickguard to be slightly shorter as the middle screw under the bridge pickup is correctly placed when compared with gibson. All in all this is a tiny detail that could have been addressed for the price…

These prices are inexcusable! I'd love one, but Epiphone is waaay out of the ballpark - I mean, not even close!!!
@jasonswitzer17489 ай бұрын
How is this different than the “inspired by Gibson” version? If the bodies are similar (or the same), surely it would be cheaper to up buy the cheaper Firebird and upgrade the pickups a done electronics. You’d have the 1963 model, but still play less, right?

The sitaring (string reverb) effect on these guitars are awful. I have a gretsch that does the same thing. It drives me nuts. Once you hear it, I guess you can't unhear it ☹️

What don’t you like (not saying your opinion is invalid)? It sounds very bright (like a Fender), but with some Gibson growl. I have mixed feeling on the sounds. I’ll bet it would cut nicely through a mix as a lead guitar. Regardless… even if someone likes this guitar, it is insanely expensive for what you get. Not feeling the laurel fretboard. The times we live in, right?
