When I was a kid there was a book titled "Zen and the art of Motorcycle Maintenance", which was a strangely trendy philosophy paperback of the late 60's. The back story of Mr Pirsig was a little sad, but his remarks about why we are perpetually drawn to motorcycle repair were accurate. Even though I'll never own a dirt bike, it is fun to get a peek under the skirt, ha ha ha.

I really do enjoy working on small engines. Reminds me of when I was a kid fixing lawn mower engines. When I say kid I mean 10 years old and up. The good old days. The nice thing is once you learn how to work on Japanese motorcycles they are all pretty much the same. LOL@ peek under the skirt, this one was well lubed. !lol

Hey! Nice work, Glen! That's a sweet little wheelie machine you got there. 😎 CRINGE at all that sealer!! I can just see the black and orange strands all piled up on the oil pump pickup screen! YIKES! That's about as sloppy as I've ever seen. I've assembled bikes before without gaskets, but you have to use an anaerobic sealer. Best to use a gasket, especially when there are starter gears involved. There's a precise clearance there that will be too tight without a gasket. Just a FYI in case you weren't aware, unless they changed something, which we all know manufacturers love to do in the 21st Century, you could have left the starter bolted down and pulled the cover off the end of the starter. The starter has an o-ring around the end of it. A little "silly-cone" on that o-ring makes installation much easier. Deja-vu on that drain plug! When I shot that vid on the V-Star, its drain plug was exactly the same! Someone put a 4' cheater bar on their 3' breaker bar, then hung off the end of it when tightening that one, LOL. 😂 I'll have to pick up Part 2 tomorrow - I'm BEAT! Worked too many hours on not enough sleep yesterday, and I paid for it all day with a migraine. Got a '07 Silverado front brake job, and a '08 RX350 problem child with a myriad of electrical problems for tomorrow. I'll need a full 8 hours of rest for that one! 😁

You got the accent down, but it sounded more like the Boston area. 😜 Feeling much better this AM - time to tackle that Suburban (oops - I said Silverado in the last comment - I really was beat!). Have a great day buddy. 👍🍻

What are you talking about some bikes it’s mandatory to use it. Yes he did a bad job of applying it and there is a gasket for that spot. On a 03 yz250f the main crack case doesn’t have a gasket it’s not supposed to because gaskets wear over time and compress and become thinner which throws off the torque of the crankcase nuts and changes the length of all of the parts in between the crankcase gasket sealant can compress fully and doesn’t wear because doing a bottom end is around 200 hours for most people and that’s a lot of wear and so until you know that there is no application for a product and to use a gasket instead sometimes there isn’t a gasket so please stop badmouthing a product because your not well educated it has real use and some manufacturers recommended it

You may look into something called a period. It is used at the end of a sentence before the next sentence begins. People have been using them for thousands of years with proper punctuation. You should feel embarrassed not knowing that the bike you mention wasn't in this video. My car has fuel injection but Ferrari injectors won't fit my Corvette. It's foolish how you are discussing a machine that has nothing at all to do with a Kawasaki KLX140AHF.
