Hyrum Beck- quads are not a step down if you really ride them. As a quad racer I’ve personally raced both quads and dirt bikes and I find quads harder to ride than dirt bikes. Quads jump just as big as dirt bikes and weigh an extra 150-200 pounds more than dirt bikes and turn even faster.
