That grand cherokee had the quadra trac 4x4 system not the quadra drive system... if it had qd2 it would have climbed that hill with 0 slippage

Pretty damn good for this gen of GCs, with the QT2. My 2011 WK2 has the QD2, seems more capable than I expected

Hey Michael. Sold the grand last month. I broke 2 items on it after some extreme offroading every second weekend, transfer case and steering rack. Both of these were replaced under warranty from jeep even though the steering rack was my fault. Can't complain, got my monies worth out of it for fun (cost me $55k all up including mods brand new) and was a great car to drive daily. Couldn't get anything better for value as far as I'm concerned. Now own a new wrangler so my opinion not shit or I wouldn't have bought another Jeep!

Love the comparison vids, keep them coming. Looks like the Jeep will be in for some TLC and repairs

Thanks mate, will do :) The Jeep was all fixed up under warranty.

The Grand Cherokee's traction control is very passive until 4-low is engaged. Once 4-low is engaged, it gets very aggressive. Same story on Frontiers/Xterras.
@jeffreyjones47986 жыл бұрын
If it was quatratac 1 it's actually pretty agressive as far as the traction control goes. At least that was the case on my 2014

Seriously that was all about maintaining momentum. Those that did. Did it easy. Those that stopped. Had a hard time. I could do this in my wife’s Mazda 3.

No quadra drive on this one guys and looking at the footage doesn't look as though the traction control was working. Steering break may have thrown this into a limp mode so that could explain it.

I just got a new Grand Cherokee (U.S.) with the turbo diesel. I haven't had a chance to take it offroad but I'm anxious to. I need to try out the different 4wd setups to see what works best. There's nothing worse than sitting in a hole with only 2 wheels turning and going nowhere.

And I am wondering how the new 5.6 Patrol would do. Jeep had some troubles I wasn't expecting. The WK and WKII Jeeps are considered as having the best 4x4 drive - Quadra Drive II. Maybe this one did not have it.
@AussieFourWheelers10 жыл бұрын
You're right, this one didn't have QD2, it was a QT2 but the traction control wasn't working properly due to a busted steering rack and being in limp mode.

That was embarrassing for the WK2, should've got the model with QD2 or turn traction control at least. If you're gonna wheel with IFS and IRS then you can't leave home without these necessities.
@AussieFourWheelers10 жыл бұрын
It broke the steering rack prior to that mound, so the traction control didn't work properly and it was in limp mode.

Aussie Four Wheelers (Hemi4WD) Oh wow, well that explains it then! Shame about the steering rack though :(. Amazing it was still driving and wheeling then, I would've gone straight home!

So, the Jeep made it over that mound with a broken steering rack and in limp mode? That's actually pretty impressive.

Open diffs on a 4x4 is essentially just a big road car. If just one tire loses traction you are stuck..
@AussieFourWheelers10 жыл бұрын
Not in every case, the first Nissan had open diffs and passed it without an issue thanks to articulation though, a big road car wouldn't be able to do that. I understand your point though, lockers are the way to go if one wants to take care of their vehicle as well.

@nicholasklapsogiannis576310 жыл бұрын
Sold it mate. Lol broke 2 things on it the transfer case and a steering rack. Both offroad on extreme trails and after 20 serious offroading trips that's not to bad. Best part is all were repaired under warranty by jeep. Gotta hand it to them most other dealers would have said no way if u saw the state they were towed into the dealerships.
@michael967872710 жыл бұрын
Nicholas Klapsogiannis Lol yeah that's pretty good that they fixed it under warranty. I wondered how they go about repairs from off roading. So I guess the GC is not built for serious off roading!

Correct! The Hilux tried first without lockers as the Patrol before it did, but unfortunately, couldn't do it that easy without lockers. Therefore, engaged lockers and crawled over.
