Such a cool build. I watched your other videos of the welding repair on the case. You do amazing work! I would definitely take a bike that’s a little beat up and make it your own over one that’s in pristine shape. Also yes on the black wheels. I’m doing an it490 build also here soon and I’m gonna do mine a little different than original. I’m gonna do the it blue color powder coat on the frame with some sparkle in it. And do the hubs the same blue with black wheels. Also I’m gonna leave the engine and transmission either vapor blasted or polished I think it looks way better than the factory black.

Thanks mate 😬 I had to do that repair all by hand with a fire grinder, I’ve got myself a Bridgeport milling machine so I can do a better job now!! I never said in any of my videos but I do this kind of repairs as a service. A few guys have reached out and asked if I would weld their cases for them. Most people probably assumed I don’t do it as a business! That will look amazing!! I love seeing bikes customised and improved, as with every bike, there were flaws from the factory, why would you restore those flaws if you could improve them 😂 I want to get back on this build soon as all I’ve done is bought most of the parts! A few guys have commented on these old videos recently asking when I will make another which has taken me by surprise 😬

I’ve torn down my it490 frame… researching the side stand bracket set up. As normal - was broken.

That’s great mate!! If you have Instagram I’d be interested to see your build 👍🏽 my Instagram is keep it big bore also, I’m on Facebook as well if you don’t use Instagram! I’ve just converted all the electronics on mine to DC and I’m running LED lights all round. I’ve 3d printed a small battery tray for the side of the bike and installed an electronic speedo which all seems to be working great!! I can show your more of it if you send me a message 👍🏽

Kaplan America has one vid of it490 with black rims. I would love to send you some pictures, but I have yz490 and it seems... that they are totally different

Hey mate, he had a few on his channel alright. I think he’s had every 500 at least once 😂 I think I’m gonna go for black rims, I seen one on google, I think it was in Australia but it looks real grunty!!! I know a few guys who swear by yz490’s. I bought a CR500 from one of them as he only ever rode his yz490. He reckons it’s a better bike. Never rode one so I can’t say!

Hi Andy, I still have it on my workbench. I had to buy a new transmission for it which took me a long time to find!! Also, I didn’t think there was much interest in it so I ended up prioritising my other projects. I want to get back to working on it however as I’m dying to ride it 😬

@@KeepitBigBore these are really rare bikes in the uk which makes it better for us 2 more sought after 👍 i'm interested in your rebuild i've just ordered most of my parts from the u.s i'm just waiting for them so i can get busy... i also want to hear that big bore 2 stroke burst into life raised from it's slumber after many years sat unloved in the back of someones garage in the states 😂

😂😂 we’ll if that isn’t encouragement to get back on it then I don’t know what is. I have most of my parts here now. Just need a few bits like side panels and a rear fender, some work on the milling machine and I’m good to go!! I might manage to do some work on it over the Christmas!! There was one on eBay a few days ago for a very good price!!!

😂😂 that was a VERY good price!! I was tempted to buy it but I just don’t have the time or space at the moment. I need to finish the IT , my 2 CR500’s and a whole bunch of other things first!! When I get my it490 done, I’ll give you a shout if your up for a ride?
