A little bit of dad lore here, my dad was an ex MTB Downhill rider, one day in a tournament, my dad broke his shoulder after missing a jump, was admitted to the hospital, escaped and ran away from the hospital all in the same day, my uncle and his homies picked my dad up at a telephone booth, with him still in his hospital robe 😂😂😂 my dad was crazy back in the day in the day, he did picked up dirt biking shortly after quitting MTB but it wasn't for long until he fully quit extreme sports all together, now he's just chill, enjoying fishing

@yhnah1329 I completely understand that argument, but for me mtb is more dangerous. I race dh competitively and have had multiple season ending injuries. I also ride dirtbikes on local trails and tracks. I don't necessarily push myself and as a result I have never had any injury worse than some cuts and bruises. Sure I am going faster and on a heavier vehichle, but they are so much more stable. Also, and I heard someone else say this, crashing on a mtb often comes quickly with no time to react while crashing on a dirtbike feels slower if that makes sense. You have time to react even if it is just a little more in most cases.

Basic physics, pedaling constantly shift the balance with each pedal because the weight of the pedal being pushed is on both sides of the bike. You might argue that "well the pistons on the dirt bike do the same thing." Yes, however, it is dead center of the bike and balanced to prevent engine collapse, so therefore, even if you perfectly balance an mtb bike, basic physics will keep the dirt bike more balanced

I was in New Hampshire for a hockey tournament with my team, there was a bike rental place and a bike stunt area, so we all went there. We all didn’t have any gear so i when went for a small jump, I didn’t have my foot put on the peddle correct so i went up the jump and also jumped off the bike. I managed to come out unscathed somehow, I guess it is just being a goalie allows you to not get injured doing that.
