Hey mike the next time after you vac the system do not start the michine hook up the can turn the can upside down and open up the high side and it will suck in the liquid then turn the can right side up and shut the high side and open the low side and start the michine and it will suck in the gas. The compressor will not come if the system empty because of the low pressure switch in.

Very glad you did this for us! We normally don't get involved with AC until we have a problem. Too many people walk into a parts store & see all these cans with fancy gages and really get misled. Boss, I remember when Freon cans cost a buck and a quarter! It took all afternoon to charge the system but, you normally only had to do it once a year…. Then, they came up with this fantasy about the ozone layer. Ice cold air conditioning turned into cooling and the refrigerant jumped to ten bucks! Now that we are a couple of generations past that…. I just take my pickup into the dealership and take advantage of their spring tune-up special. This year it cost me a bunch to have a couple of o-rings replaced. I hate progress… when it costs money just because of imaginary sins that I need to pay for! Oh yeah… sorry for the rant. I enjoyed seeing you tough this out while refraining from dropping expletives!

Great job pal! You should get yourself an EZ up tent to beat the heat and rain when wrenching. As a roofer I have a magnet on wheels for picking up nails around the houses. It works really slick, you can grab one for about $100 at a roofing center. That will be helpful for finding that nut or bolt you drop in the rocks. You will Literally find it in 1 min as opposed to crawling around on your hands and knees- headache saver. Looking forward to the next video!!

Get yourself a pipeliners cloud umbrella for shade and rain and a magnet sweep to find bolts and nuts that are dropped.

Always something with the AC on heavy equipment every year. Always something breaking with heavy equip all the time. Seems persistence is the one tool that always works though. Thanks for the video.

Interesting DB. I put a mini split in my house based on videos and manuals. Had to have someone come out to put the digital analyzer on it. Turns out it did not have enough of a precharge for the system and was low, but works well!

I was always afraid to mess with a/c units. See a guy blow a can of refrigerant up in his hand once , don't know how it happened. I have an old recharge unit , don't use it though. Good job.👍👍

D-Boss! i went through all that with my cat mini with the high side way up and the low side down and no freon going in, called my AC buddy and he thought about it and said… clean out your condenser with a air gun, tons of dust and dirt came out and everything went nice a nice, cab got ice cold and it didn’t need any freon, just some dusting…definitely keep that and all the coolers clean.

You should alwags charge through the highisde first to see if there is flow through the system. If that lowside gauge doesnt rise, that valves is bad

Get you a micron gauge, takes a lot of time out of vacuum and waiting to see gauge movement also you will see the smallest of leaks during regain.

Get a micron gauge. Bring it down to at least 500 microns. Gauge is inexpensive. Get yourself a blue moving blanket put where you're standing much easier to see what you drop and nothing bounces, also good to lay on.

First do a nitrogen pressure test for leaks. Then a micron gauge for a proper vacuum. 500 microns is good. Cheers mate!!

You need to put the a/c can up side down for changeling. You need it to be a liquid not as gas. Right side up and it's a gas . Two hands on the can and shacking it will help to warm up a little . For installing Lock it all your labels. one sued tale you . A/C R134A and it hoes 1lb . 3oz ???? Keep the work up. doing good.

without specification for the specific peace of equipment your just guessing. gauges with red, green, yellow is meaningless. overcharging is just as bad for the system as undercharging. I do automotive a/c and it can get complicated! My best suggestion is leave to the professionals. Lets just say if I recreated this video I would be facing fines and or loose my license.

@@DIRT-BOSSI totally get it, number 1 thing I hear, it worked last time I used it! Here is a dirty little secret, anytime you turn air on in a newer vehicle it engages the a/c system even if you have it on hot. This means your putting wear and tear on it summer and winter. I tell people to think of it as an oil change, every 4 years have your system evacuate and recharge. The system requires OIL along with refrigerant that breaks down over time. The best time to do this is the winter time. Or it's like everything else you won't know you need it until you do. Love the channel though, keep on keeping on!

@@DIRT-BOSS Absolutely wrong. Refrigerant never "breaks down or gets old". Unless you have a component failure or leak you should never go into a system. Anytime you do you are taking a chance of introducing contaminates into the system. Especially from a shop that uses a reclaim machine where they pull out the charge and recycle it. You are mixing your system with everyone else they have hook too. This is an up sale that shops use to make money. Now as far as your video it was entertaining and I know you're not an AC guy so I won't bash you, but I will warn you it is a 10K fine to release refrigerant into the air so that part about over charging and just letting it go is a big no no. I know everyone does it but not everyone puts out video proof of them doing it. Just putting that out there for your protection. Too get your charge right, run the throttle up about half way. Turn the AC on high and close the door. After the cab is cooled down look at the sight glass if there are still bubbles it is low. You want to slowly add gas to the low side until the bubbles clear up. Add a little and wait, then do it again. You have to give the expansion valve time to react.

By allowing refrigerant to escape to the air you have subjected yourself to a 25k fine from the EPA. LEAVE it to the professionals.
