Are Cord Reels for Winding Extension Cords Any Good?

These are all good options. I like the 5 gallon bucket method. Not new, there are many videos showing this method. At the bottom lower side drill a hole in a 5 gallon bucket large enough to put the male end of the extension cord thru. Then put a heavy piece of flat concrete such as a paver in the bottom of the bucket for stability. Start pulling the cord into the bucket. The bucket will hold several hundred feet of cord!! When using just grab the end and take off! You can run with it if you like, it will come out of bucket smoothly. When done just pull it back into bucket as fast as you want. I bought a metal craftsman one with a built in cord reel with four receptacles in the middle and it's the most useless purchase of my life. It's heavy, and super annoying to reel and unreel. Wish I learned the daisy chain method first, that things a life changer.

There aren't winders like the Yellow Jacket type that have "spinny" handles so you can "reel" in your cord?? I've seen them for like christmas lights. The company Connelly seems to ring a bell....just not heavier gauge wire like extension cords....that I've seen. Thoughts? Thanks for your videos, sir.

I'm just starting this video but I'm going to say court rules are terrible for your extension cords they twist up the wires inside the jacket and cause nightmares. Once I learned how to do the chain method I've always done that with all of my extension cords they last decades after decades doing that. It also if you have a pickup truck will help hold down any light materials you might have in the back. The one thing I do that most people don't do is a lot of people will put the plugs together I leave them open for the simple reason that when you're unrolling it and you come to the very end it likes to swing up and nail you in your shins
