Definitely miss the Gleaner action but I definitely understand the growing as a farm and needing to upgrade. I’ve always wanted to buy an older combine to play with alongside my 7088. But there’s a point when getting crops out is more important than playing around with the older stuff. Don’t apologize for taking vacation you’re building your life and that’s more important. Just wait till you have a little on the ground running and you won’t feel bad about choosing memories over KZbin. We all appreciate the videos.

Don't stress out about the operator challenge. I spent 39 years as an engineering tech. building roads and bridges for a nearby state hi-way department. I've witnessed a fair number of operators in my career. You are easily on par with the best I've encountered. I look forward to Watching the videos. Oh, and happy birthday.

The sugar beet farmers used to use the land levers back in the 70's here in red river valley in eastern ND, and north west MN.

Land Planes used to be popular on Pipeline Irrigated Bottom ground. Had to have some fall in the field for the water to move down the Furrows. Any excess went to Tailwater Ponds when the Corps said no more directly back into the Mo River (50s). Those were cleaned out with a Dragline, left to dry, loaded by Cat 80 Scrapers pulled by TD 24s or D8Ds and scattered across the far end of the field. Then the Land Planes came out. Some of these were monstrous 3 and 4 blade pull type with gauge wheels everywhere. It took an enormous amout of time to complete a 1/2 Section. Center Pivots were becoming popular at the time in this area (NWMo)and that old way of Irrigating became history very quickly. No more having to run a Furrower thru the field. Many times a decent window for planting was lost between Weather, Floods, and leveling a field off. Sometimes it was abandoned and the dirt hauled by Dump trucks to the far end for another time. Pioneer had a Huge seed corn farm up the road a little ways from us (8 miles).

Happy Thanksgiving and happy birthday. My advice about the challenge is to get with Chris. You're both a lot alike in your skills. Neither of you are loud and boisterous people but great operator's. The only hard part is getting from one piece of equipment to the other on the clock. Check out the tasks and make a plan for you. And more importantly, just have fun with the wife afterward.

Operator competition is work as it's a channel related event. There are some good operators and some excavators that make me scratch my head and wonder why they aren't better than they are with seat time they have on youtube. However, Brandon and Chris make the operating excavators look like they're an extension of themselves.

We use the crap out of them on the sod fields. We pull ours behind a 4450 an it will make the old girl work pretty good.

mentioning the John Deere 1935 made me think of the John Deere 5520. you was going to repair the bottom end of the engine & use it for plow day. did I miss a video & you guys got the 5520 running again or did you guys decide to make it a parts tractor. I remember in 1 of the 5520 videos you said a lot of parts would fit other tractors.. sorry if I behind/ missed what final result was on the 5520. curious
@atomicwedgie81762 күн бұрын
Do you mean 5020?
@steamindemon33892 күн бұрын
@ yeah I probably got the numbers wrong.. but it’s the John Deere that they pulled the bottom out of & discovered more damage than the expected.. didn’t know if it would be cost effective to repair or turn into a parts tractor.. there was like 3 or 4 videos on it.. & last video I saw they hadn’t decided on wether to spend money on it & not sure if was going to have time to fix it
@dirtgrainsteelКүн бұрын
I still want to fix it I just haven't got back to it yet I've been watching for another 531 Deere engine to come along and jist swap it out if not that I have a few other ideas but ultimately the goal is to get it back to a running tractor eventually
