Bullet-proof Toyota Tacoma Axle Swap. The Ultimate Toyota Tacoma Build Episode 10. Tacoma Mods.

This 3rd gen Toyota Tacoma needs a new rear axle! Not because the old one is bent but because I don't want it to be bent! After going back and forth with Fusion 4x4 for the last 7 months I think they created an axle that checks all the boxes for us Tacoma owners. Super beefy axle shafts, giant axle tubes and even a Ford 9" center section! PLUS at 71" WMS to WMS we no longer need wheel spacers AND this axle uses the OEM Tacoma wheel speed sensors. I'm lucky to be associated with great folks like Dan who don't just take product suggestions seriously but deliver top of the line solutions at super competitive prices. This axle in combination with our small suspension tweaks should make for some outstanding results at Ultimate Adventure 2022! Now I need to get back to work... Thanks for watching!

I feel the whole "mistakes happen when you're tired" in my soul. Prepping my GMC Canyon for Truckin Magazine's Throwdown event years back, I literally was falling asleep on my torque wrench while putting the wheels on and decided I'd do it in the morning. Went to get the truck aligned at 8am and 2 wheels fell off 2 blocks from the house. So I got to replace all the studs as well. Lesson learned. Don't be doing anything that affects safety while sleep deprived.

I did something similar. I did an entire engine and transmission swap on my old 96 legacy. It was my buddies shop and i worked from about 4pm to.....like 2am or something and was heading home and i didnt tighten down the axle nuts OR the front balljoints so my passenger side strut and wheel completely came unhinged and it looked like my car was cambered af, looked cool, didnt work well. i was stuck miles from anything so i had to call a tow truck and triple A fucking took 4 hours to get to me to tow it back to the shop. When they found the vehicle, i was passed the fuck out in the drivers seat lmao

I personally like the longer, slower videos with the explanations of why youre making the decisions that you are. I dont own a Tacoma, but its super helpful to see the rationale behind the decisions that youre making as you make them. I can read about the logic behind longer vs shorter control arms, but its super helpful to see the thought process on an actual fab project in real time.

The mid-sized jobs like this axle swap are hard ones to get done because they feel like they should be a day or two day job, and really are 16 to 24 hours... So It moves fast enough we start getting in that mindset "I'll clean up when I'm done." I could feel that look on your face when you decided to go and shower and attack the next day, and then the time to clean up and regroup... I'm glad you shared that. It truly is important to step back, put tools where they need to be and re-set the work space. it happens naturally on the long jobs and the short jobs, but the mid-range ones.. its hard to stop when you're so close..... Love the content keep up the awesome work.

Nice work. Long format is great; I like it when it is done in this style instead of the whiteboard. Just be careful, as many times slow is fast. Just hang axles with the hoist also to give some fall protection.

And im glad you werent hurt with your little stand accident. My shop's tiny compared to yours, and it always feels like I cant get all my stuff out of the way. The number of times ive had near accidents because my foot snagged some scrap steel, or the d60's that are sitting there waiting for me, or that tool i didnt put away. I feel like I have to clean the shop every project, and its still too cluttered.
