Love the format you've used to test the WR; trail, track, uncorked and mildly modded. Seems like a real sleeper compared to some of the blinged out bikes featured on most channels. Maybe this WR is the real "Triple Sport" champion for those of us in "free" states ha! I do be believe one is coming to my garage, you've helped a lot with that decision, so keep up the good work!

I've been waiting for this test to see what "uncorking" the WR would do......you better be careful or you're going to convert me into a four-stroke guy. Would be perfect for the high desert country, I think. I always had trouble with weight of big strokers in terms of making them turn.....I had the same problem with my 465's.....maybe flywheel effect or geometry. Does the WR feel nimble? Looks like it. Do these mods make it a KTM eater?

haha, I think you would love this one! rear slanted cylinder, gas tank under the seat and overall weight distribution make this bike feel very nimble, I find it easy to maneuver on the trails, even tight 1st gear section. I think its a very good competitor to European bikes, I like the gearbox spacing and the suspension is just amazing, bike feels little bit taller and very sharp, I wouldn't mind keeping it ;)

Im trying to decide between the Beta 300rr race edition and the wr450f for tight woods single track and technical riding in the southeast (Tennessee/Alabama/ Georgia area) . Ive ridden the Beta and it felt light and nimble, could lug it in higher gears without having to downshift and no fear of killing it, and while the bike has a ton of power, i never felt like it would get me in trouble. How does the Yamaha feel in that regard? Can you lug it w/o stalling the motor? Is it too much bike in tight single track, hard enduro style riding. Ive always owned Yamaha's and love the fact the dealer network is all over and parts can be easily sourced, plus kayaba suspension all around, and overall reliability record. But the simplicity of the beta 2t appeals to me. Theyre still carbed and the race editions come with kayaba forks (still has sachs rear shock). Decisions, decisions..... what's everyone's consensus that has ridden both?
@Mockle07
@Mockle07 4 жыл бұрын
jon angus Hey. I haven’t ridden those specific bikes so don’t take this as gospel, but having ridden the KTM EXC 300 and 450 F, for the riding you said you do I’d say the 450 would be way too much bike. 300 2t would be the way to go, or if you want a 4t look at the Beta 350 race edition or even the Sherco SEF 300 (KYB suspension). I can vouch for the Sherco (probably my next bike) having ridden it recently. It handles like a 250 in the woods but has a bit more punch without being lurchy and unmanageable like a 450 can be in tight, technical terrain.
@jmangus83
@jmangus83 4 жыл бұрын
@@Mockle07 well i rode the beta 350, 390,430, and 500. Didnt like the 350 at all, it wanted to be ridden at upper rpms and didn't lug on the low end as well, the 390 lugging ability and power was good, the 430 and 500 didn't feel like too much power but felt top heavy and that i was muscling it too much. Thats why im interested in the wr450 because the weight is more centralized and lower center of gravity with the redesign, but i cant find one for demo. Ive never ridden a sherco, but i know a dealer who stopped carrying them due to all the probs they were having with the 4t models, but he did state the 2ts weren't a problem. Im also interested in a gasgas 300 as the come with kayabas, are still carbed, but arent counterbalanced motors. I was sold on the beta 300 but i keep reading about all these new wr450s and how good they are, and being a power junkie, they grab my attention. Whether that will come back to bite me is yet to be seen. Playing with gearing could alleviate the twitchiness
@Mockle07
@Mockle07 4 жыл бұрын
jon angus Yeah that all makes sense. My local dealer sells GasGas, Beta and Sherco and they highly rate the Sherco 4t bikes... they sell loads. My good friend has a 2018 GasGas EC300 and I’ve ridden that; it’s fantastic, the engine is a monster and the suspension is just on point, just bear in mind that KTM have just basically bought GasGas so as of next year they are going to have WP suspension and KTM engines! I’ve only ridden the WR250 and I find the Yamahas quite big compared to the Betas and KTMs, but it’s still a great bike. I really want to get a ride on the new Beta Race Edition models but there aren’t that many test days in England unfortunately.
@jmangus83
@jmangus83 4 жыл бұрын
@@Mockle07 well thanks for the replys. Well as of now, the race models are limited here at the demo days, at least on the us east coast. But they did have a 300 race and a 350 race, and the suspension is on point. But thats another point i forgot about on the betas, the low seat height, will be easier to dab when you need to and be able to get low compared to the yami. And i am aware that ktm bought gasgas, i was just hoping they weren't going to screw them up. Probably wishful thinking. Im probably going to get the beta, as for my conditions, its probably best. If you look up the Tennessee knockout hard enduro races, the terrain is similar to what ill be using it for. Im not far from there
@dirtniron
@dirtniron 4 жыл бұрын
Jon, I agree with Michael, I've spent a lot of time on various 300 2 strokes last year and I think thats the way to go, I did not ride 300rr, but I bet they are very close, I rode KTMs and Huskys TX, TPI,. XC, XCW.. I also spend a lot of time on Sherco 450, Yamaha 450,etc.. 450 is a lot of bike for tight technical riding, its not impossible but 300 2stroke or smaller 4 stroke would feel much better. I did a video where I ride 350 4t and 300 2t back to back and 300 came out as a better overall bike, here is the video: kzbin.info/www/bejne/e4asgaiZnpiGrdE

Can I cork it back??!!! Hi. I walked into a dealership looking for a WR250F and they offered me one of 2 bikes that a rich guy comisioned with full akrapovic exhaust GYTR ecu , accerbis you name it. I dont want that much power now, maybe in 3 years time! How much will I be able to dial the power back with the phone app and the throttle stop? Can i make it "feel" like a smaller bike? This guy rode 7 miles and gave both bikes back and purchased an ATV. So he lost some money and now i can get it for the same price as the wr250f.

Does anyone know if the 2021 or 2022 WR450F is green sticker eligible in CA? Stupid C.A.R.B. law making 2022 models that aren't green sticker to be confined to MX tracks only, which is bullshit. I have a deposit on a 2022 YZ250X, but if I can't ride it off road (in it's natural habitat), then I need to find a green sticker bike.
