That bend in the rear cross member was not from a chain or tow strap. That truck had a fifth wheel plate. That was from the king pin on a trailer hitting and the rear end popping up and/or the trailer not being raised enough while loaded. Love the build of the truck

Mikey ,FYI We had a brand 4 brand new Pete tri-axle sent to a BIG truck shop to have a box and lift axle installed , and they plumbed one of the lifts wrong and it squared off 4 brand new tires ! So release your brakes and spin that lift axle to be sure you have it right ! Coming along real nice !
@blackdogexcavator213 жыл бұрын
Well, I would have lost money on that. I never thought it would have come out of the shop without using the crane or a jack to maneuver the rear end around. She's looking good boys. Y'all stay safe.
@eaglerider18263 жыл бұрын
Same here , I thought the crane would have been used . He also did it without a spotter , if he did hit anything we'll never know . lol
@davidnixon57033 жыл бұрын
i thought the same thing about using the crane to move the rear end over...
@willb30183 жыл бұрын
I wasn't surprised at all. The day he moved it in I knew getting it out would not be an issue for two reasons. One, just watching how he got it in there it appeared there should not be an issue getting the extended version out. Second. Dirt Perfect doesn't do things off the cuff. He does thinks them out. I am betting he had it figured out before he ever backed it in there. At the very least, he knew after backing it in and would never have taken the chance extending it in the shop if there was the slightest doubt about getting it out, even if it meant using the crane.

Came into this series a bit late (only about 9 months) - but I can tell you what happened to the rear cross member - the king pin of a trailer hit it... Someone didn't drop the landing legs before pulling out from under it... Same thing happens over my side of the lake (Oz)... 'Driver' goes looking for a new job (preferably not in control of a semi). Loving the build series, fascinating... Finally got to understand why tippers over there have so many wheels...

a lot of states don't allow the pressure adjust in the cab because you can change your axle weights as you roll over the scale. Only works if they weigh one axle at a time at the scale house. crank her up as the steer axle goes on, lower it when the pusher rolls on, then crank it back up before the drives hit.

I'm impressed that it fit out the shop door!!!!!!! I knew you could do it but was still on pins and needles!!!!!!!! You talking about the air axle, my grand dad started dump trucking in the 40's and some of them old timers figured out that they could haul more with that extra axle, the laws very kinda non descript about the construction of said axle, so they swiped bicycle tires and tied em to the frame with a broomstick......... I dont know if its true or not, but it sounds plausible....... stay safe friends, keith

As a way to add more "EYE-CANDY" I think you should mount / fabricate some flapper's for the exhaust pipe's. I just think it would add to the "LOOK-FACTOR." Maybe even add to the Flapper's your Initials "D. P." Great build. Thanks for sharing. Looking forward to seeing the box get put on this project Lt. Dan, at the ready..
@donbullock87903 жыл бұрын
It's about time that thing saw some daylight. You have really thought this out as to what needs to go where and in what order. From experience I would suggest that you put exhaust tubes on that lift axle control valve. They stir up a lot of dust and cab dirt when used. I put one of them on one of the trucks that I drove part time and the owner then wanted them on all trucks. Looking for the next video. Be well and safe.

i just drilled about 80 holes on the autocar. i touched up the annular cutter with a grinder and it cut good as new again. i even broke on off when i got too aggressive with a dull cutter, ground it flat and then reground it with an angle grinder so i was able to finish out what holes i needed to do. was just going to comment on the air bag regulator and then you addressed it near the end. im running mine at 55lbs

Nice work guys. Lift axle controller outside of the cab is probably to deter drivers picking the wheels up at a toll plaza (common on east coast where there are charged per axle on the road) to reduce tge fee and then drop them back down further on.
@krankie493 жыл бұрын
You need to connect your suspension supply BEHIND a pressure protection valve such as a Bendix PR-4 valve. If ever there is a sudden loss of air from your air suspension it closes at around 60 psi to keep a reserve for the brakes. Ditto on the compression fittings. Did service work for a music band tour bus. Every time the bus stopped in for service the tour manager requested we change 5 fittings (our choice) from quik connect to compression.
@DirtPerfect3 жыл бұрын

Those push locks are a love hate relationship. Thats all there is to it. Love them for the convenience but despise them when you have to constantly chase down leaks and blow outs. I deal with several thousand of them where I work and chasing down leaks is just about an every day job. Even using really good quality fittings from Parker they still sometimes blow out the tubing. Speaking of tubing I hope you got the high quality stuff because the cheaper tubing out there will get brittle over time, especially any where near heat or the sun.
