I weigh 185 lbs, have aftermarket pipe and upgraded suspension, and some other off road goodies on my crf250l, and it goes like crazy in the tight woods, and ALL the trails, of course my KX and YZ go faster, but are not allowed on the street. ( I have gone over 80 mph (gps) ) I am retired , but in the day, I raced the expert class off road. This bike keeps me grinning.

The Honda CRF250 has a seat height of 34.7", the XT250 is 31.9". The Honda weighs 320, the XT250 290 lbs. I am 5'7" and have a Yamaha XT250, but I think the Honda is a beautiful machine. If I had the Honda I'd get a lowering link to make it more rideable in the dirt.

it's an excellent bike, in town is fantastic and on light trials goes very good. it is meant for beginners and for those who wish to explore the possibilities of a proper dual sport, and it's a good DUAL SPORT. not a MX bike or enduro. the weight it's really not an issue, i had it almost touching the ground and i was able to lift it up with no effort, if you cant lift a 140kg bike to even think to try trials, you will get hurt anyway. weight can even be reduced with some after market parts. this bike it's just right not too much and not too less hence the price. if you like performance dont look at it, save up more money and spend them on a ktm or husky.

The CRF 250 L is a nice. The wet weight of the DRZ 400S is close to CRF 250L. Yeah, I would like to see a CRF 350/450X street legal dual sport bike. Honda did a good job with this bike having a good seat height and a killer price. Honda could have gave the bike a little more balls and sold the bike for $5000.

To me the 250 is perfect size and 100mpg is sweet with $4 gallon gas prices here in the U.S.

It's a pretty cheap bike too. On the Honda website it's listed as like $4,500 or so where as the WR250X is listed as $6,500. Not sure what dealers would sell the bike for though.

I agree KTM prices are ridiculous, but you can get a Husky TE511 for about $6k at the moment. Unfortunately KTM owns Husky now, so the TE511 and 449 are gone after this year, but they are awesome bikes. The BMW design infuence was good for HUSKY. It's just too bad they didn't market themselves better. As soon as Honda releases a 350/450 version of this bike I will get it, but the 250L is just too underpowered and you can't do much with it where it matters in a place like Southern California...

that 250l is plinty strong no prob pulling my 260 lbs 70 mph down the hwy and prety strong off road to hear is a video of me on mine in the woods

Yes Honda need a 450cc, 650 are great on the road and open trails. Tite woods its a hard bike to throw around. Has the power but the suspension is not there for off road. The 450crf dual sport would be the hit same frame and susp.

yes that would be nice i have a drz400 and with only 5 gears at 65mph it vibrates pretty bad don't know why they cant produce a 450 enduro like you said with 6 gears that doesn't weight 300 + pounds.

I am not a big guy, 5'7 and 145ibs (70kg) and i can't decide which one to get? This one or the Yamaha XT250. I do trail rides and everyday communting on and off the highway is an very important issue for me. Any suggestion please free feel to drop by. Cheers.

I have the CBR250r that has this same engine. It's okay on the road, it does 65 just fine, but I was wondering if 50-60 on this would be the same? Shares the same engine as the CBR but can't see it doing road speeds for very long without vibrating the hell out of something.

Other companies like KTM, Husaberg, and Husqvarna have gotten it right with their 350EXC-F, 300, and 310R models respectively. So no, Honda and Yamaha are not doing it right. These other companies are thinking outside the box and marketing stuff that destroys this and(to a lesser degree) the Yamaha. Honda and Yamaha are just taking the money of those who don't know or care enough to look elsewhere in the market. I'm a fan of Honda bikes, but the CRF250L is nothing more than a beginner's bike.

Do they still have the power of a crf250r motocross bike because my dad has a crf230l and it has no power it wont even do a wheelie unless you pop the clutch

I think the same 250cc on road or freeway even with 1 person ?? too weak 250cc and 2 up forget it LOL a 450cc 6 speed but don t forget a good seat I had drz 400 good power bad on road I now have klr 650 good power very good on road too heavy off road I like this 250crf L except the motor 450cc would be good

Makes half the power of a 1998 XR400 and weighs 20kg more. oh... and the suspension is cheaper and nastier. Its one saving grace over the old XR is an electric start. If you are thinking of buying this bike as an all round trail / get to work bike save your money and buy a used xr400. Unless the electric start is really worth 3 thousand quid more to you :/ WHERE IS THE PROGRESS HONDA! Hell... even the old Yam WR250 had more poke than this ...... Talk about a dissapointment!
