This setup for white creates more of a positional advantage instead of getting material ahead or checkmates. That's probably why I loved this so much hahaha. Thanks for information you've given gunjan! Good luck fathering around ;)

Chess is a game of patterns. The more complex patterns (like smothered mate) you learn, the better you get. Scripted openings are designed as a "cheat" and that's why so many weak players rely on them. Without the high-level pattern knowledge it won't matter what you play. Use Fischer's advice and read MCO from cover to cover twice. Also get a book called Domination In 2,545 Endgame studies as that teaches you how to make pieces fall off the board.

Because players < 2000 can't play the middlegame, players > 2000 often play "trick" openings to get people out of book. This makes them sitting ducks for opponents like me (and him obviuosly).

Love your video's Sir! Just found your site a couple weeks ago. Use to play this as black all the time when I played tournaments many years ago. Hardly anyone would grab the c5 pawn as white, which will always leave black better, or at worse equal. I found the Qd2 move on your last sequence, but keep analyzing Nb8 instead of the Bc8, which totally losses as your showed. Even though Ng8 looks UGLY for black, after the Nc3 and the a6 move, the b5 and e4 squares are at-least both defended. Is it still totally busted that way? I could not find a totally winning sequence, but white still looks FAR superior positionally.

You don't HAVE to grab the c-pawn, but Black's slow kingside development is fatal in the sniper. White has to be prepared to develop rapidly on the queenside and often sac a pawn with e5 to gain time and mess up Black's defenses.

I have a book on it called 21st Century Sicilian in my kindle. I recomend 1 e4 d5 2 d4 for a quick pawn break and I retreat the queen to e3 (as in the Center Game), which shuts off the oppnoent's engine at move two. thing is though unless you master very comple tactics this won't help you get past 2400 or so.

Awesome video. This is a strong line. Do you encounter the Sniper often? Pretty risky line for Black. I think the safer 3..c6 may gain in popularity after Bologan recommended it in his recent DVD. (4.f4 d5!? and 4.Be3 d5!? are interesting.)

It's called the modern defence. It's known for being the opposite of risky. You keep your options open at the expense of early piece development.

@@Hubris1998 I think "opposite of risky" would be the Berlin. :) I think the Modern can get a bit dicey at 2400+ with engine prep. Its flexibility and surprise value can be effective against lower rated opposition though.

@@NeilEVarga fair enough. although I would advise against using it if you're lower level yourself (i.e. not a smurf). the lack of commitment can easily backfire when you don't really know what you're doing. typically, I go for the Sicilian defence. I've heard it's pretty effective at all levels.

There is a line which need to be worked : 1.e4 g6 2.d4 Bg7 3.Nc3 c5 4.dxc5 Bxc3 5.bxc3 and the gambit line for Black 5...b6!? it is why, for the moment, even if the preparation proposed is very interesting, I tend to prefer to play 4.Nf3 in order to transpose in an Accelerated Dragon and that's a pity because the variations given tends to conduct us to think that the sniper can be refuted I will work about it with databases and computer if needed to have enough good reply against 5...b6. Of course, with such variations, why avoid to enter in the variations that Black propose us when it can lead them to a serious disaster ? Thanks for these propositions.

Now, for my move order, I play 1.d4 and versus 1...d6, I accept to enter in a Pirc / Modern with 2.e4. But with the move order 2...g6 (Modern) I play 3.Nf3 And with the move order 2...Nf6 (Pirc) I play 3..Nc3 and then I tend to hesitate between the Classical or the Austrian Attack So, this precision to explain that with my move order given by the Modern, I tend to go to the 3.Nf3, 4.Be2 line

I am going to practice this how long do you think you should practice these moves until it becomes apart of your memory? I suppose that is different for every person but let me be more specific how long did it take you to master this move? I would say I am in the intermediate level and I would like to improve my game. Keep these videos coming because I am learning quite a bit. I need to watch this video several times. This is just a suggestion, I think in some videos, you should make some offensive and defensive strategies for novice players, just a suggestion, not a criticism. Master Rodri if a pawn uses his two square first move privelege, it comes with a condition. if in choosing to move two squares, that pawn passes a square in which he could have been taken by another pawn, then the other pawn can capture it on that first square. it is called en passant. in effect, a pawn cannot run past the sword of another pawn without risking getting hit. however, the en passant capture is entirely voluntary - unless capture is essential to escape check from the two move pawn.
