@@pauldodd2120 Players cant simply just challenge umpires' decision though, because we do have a referee in court. So such acts that obviously go against the rules will certainly be noticed by the referee. In this case, we want to highlight that umpires should be more considerate and fair in umpiring the game. Lastly, umpires certainly get paid so they are expected to do their best in their professional job. While there are unpaid volunteers who serve as linesmen, it doesn't give them the right or pass to judge the line poorly in-game, is not it? Especially not in the world-class game? Thanks for the video. The graphic display from Hawkeye placed it wrongly as well within the baseline (Singles - He Bing Jao). It should have display marginally within the end edge of the baseline. It look out at first but if you look carefully at the angle of the shuttle, it is leaning slightly away from the vertical. This placed the cock semi-circle edge within the end edge of the baseline. Lately, they have been careful to display the correct representation and not just simply put a dark circle on a line to indicate that it was in. As for those shots taken twice, which is not allowed, the umpire may have not notice it and he/she cannot rule if they did not see. If it was me, since there was a protest and I did not see it, I will call both sides to explain the situation and offer a compromise by proposing playing a let. Of course, the winning side would say no but at the very least, I try to do something rather than seat on the chair and remain inert.

A legal serve in badminton is done in one motion forward, from the instance of backswing into the service execution. Serving like Astrup did is actually illegal and considered a fault (point awarded to opponent) because it has the effect of faking the opponent to move before the actual serve takes place. This is very disadvantageous for the player receiving the service. Astrup knew perfectly well what he was doing when he did that, look at his smug body language after the shot when he walks up to the net to eye down the german player.

@vinhluu21542 жыл бұрын
Hawk-Eye uses cameras to calculate the motion verses actually "seeing" where things land. I wouldn't trust it since it makes assumptions like spin and wind/air speed. That's why when high-speed and high resolution cameras on close calls can show Hawk-eye as inaccurate, which is when you want it to be accurate the most. That's the only time it matters, right? When things are super close and crucial to the outcome of a match/contest? For badminton's small court size, a good high-speed camera replay system would be better than calculating trajectories.

Since badminton has grow heavily over the past years, I think they should look at how other sports invested better in their technology to make the game a lot fair. Volleyball is one sport badminton should look into with their challenge system, from touching the net, line calls where the cameras broadcasted has a better effect on the Hawkeye decision, and double hits from players. Currently nothing has changed until the Hawkeye introduction in 2013-14 and BWF have enough funding to invest in better technology to keep the sport fair
@nutube62912 жыл бұрын
Badminton is very fast-paced game. There is always a scope for a wrong judgement (intentional and unintentional) by both players and the umpire. A better review system should be in place. Umpires should acknowledge their missjudgement. And players should show better sportmanship e.g body contact, double hit, in/out decition. But again, it's a fast game so, sometimes, players themselves are unaware of thier mistakes. There are quiet a few examples of good sportmanship, especially in MS (e.g. Viktor gave away a point by intentionally doing a wrong serve).

Can't they just use the slow mo footage from the Hawkeye cameras for a human to make decisions? Getting cameras with 120 fps should be no big deal these days and be sufficient. Maybe we can then get other angles of cameras apart from the shitty back view from high above where you can't judge neither length nor height. Cameras like 4 meters high to the back of the field at the sides are ideal. Maybe not suitable up to semi finals when 4 courts are played parallel but with only 2 courts needed this should work out. Just have a look at the Lee Chong Wei Special Edition of Japan Open. In these videos you get a real sense of the players speed and athleticism.

How can we still trust hawkeye? Replay is definitely way better
@Liboch2 жыл бұрын
Hawkeye is more definitive. Replay can still be subjected to interpretation. Hawkeye could be wrong but as long as the probably of error is low, and there is no interference, most players accept the decision.

Can you explain why? I'm a beginner player so I don't know the rules that much.
@eth4n470 Жыл бұрын
@@milesjoles2971 The serve must be one continuous action, you can't just move your racket, stop, then move it again, or else your opponents might get tricked

I just thought before this hawk eye really becoming official, super slow motion with really high fps and resolution would do much better

Can someone tell me what was the problem at 2:11? Were they saying the birdie hit the ground? It looks like a clean play to me.

0:41 It's a normal Korean Hawkeye.😅 3:40 And this is racism against Asians that Europeans love so much.🤮

0:33 looks like it could be out. The high and straight moving ones are poorly viewed on the official review technology.
