Because you had good directors who knew how to direct and were not bothered or hampered by what people said to each other or how many ethnic groups were represented. Movie making was not an encounter group in the 70's. Nobody gave a shit about the stuff that people worry about today. They didn't care. Today there would be some left wing organization who would demand the film be re dubbed to get rid of the "N" word. They're already doing it to books.

The sound effect for the .44 is hardly use in TV and Movies anymore. Its a cool sound. It should be used more often.

Had a Ruger Blackhawk in .44 Mag. Sounds like a cannon. Took it to the range a few times and every time I shot it everyone would stop what they were doing and looked at me.

a friend's dad had lots of firearms Ruger was his pick . let me shoot the .44 Blackhawk with Mag loads ... man what a kick and the sound was something else .. you needed plugs in the ears

+grayfoxx3 Yep, I too have a Ruger Blackhawk, 44Mag. It sure attracts a lot of attention at the range.

I used to think it was a fake sound used for dramatic effect in these movies until I got the chance to fire a .44 in Thailand. It sounded just like it did in this clip.

Dirty Harry would make hippies clean up their own poo from the sidewalks. Hopefully he retired with a pension before he got canned by the weak people in charge.

There was one when I was a kid in Mountain View on the El Camino. I got tossed around by an armed robber only once, still made the deals and price worthwhile.

Made in 1973. Late 60s and early 70s movies had more of everything as the R rated stigma (you would take your kids) became less important and the MPAA lowered their standards. Imagine PG movies with nudity (non sexual nudity) that you could go see at 12 by yourself. MPAA raised their standards in the 80s.

Less politically correct back in those days
@XiaNingTian6 жыл бұрын
Dirty Harry was always seen as a crime drama, not an action movie. As for as the guy who mentioned "Less politically correct" I wouldn't say that's the case. These movies caused quite the commotion upon release during the time. Check out the documentary on the morality of Dirty Harry. If anything, things hadn't really changed since the movie's release and now when it comes to the politics.

A lot of 80's action movies SUCKED. I grew up on Dirty Harry, Death Wish, etc. I love the darker grittier movies like this.

I like how Harry just patiently waits for his partner to kneel down and get out of the line of fire before calmly blasting the perp with the shotgun. Like he's hunting a deer.
