Man, you both tripped over this newest song of Dirty Loops by pure chance, and are probably on your way free falling down a deep rabbit hole! And in a way I wish you’d started with some of their other stuff. This is the only track they’ve released so far from their newest and upcoming album. And believe me, they ARE a super trio! Hailing from Sweden, these three friends met early on in life, studied at Sweden’s most prestigious music college, things from rock to jazz to anything else, and have busted all notions of genre since bursting onto the music scene with a cover of Lady Gaga’s “Just Dance”. Ever since those first days of making crazy covers, to then writing their own material, they’ve made it their aim to shake up all notions of genre and boundaries. From funk to ballads to gospel to Michael Jackson-style RnB tunes, to anything else, Dirty Loops have always brought world-class standards to their writing, arranging and playing. Jonah, vocals and keys, has sung all his life, played and studied piano most of it too, from classical to jazz. His voice is unbelievable, and amongst his fans are some of the world’s greatest musicians, including Quincy Jones, Stevie Wonder, Brian McKnight, Chaka Khan and many others. He’s collaborated with Jordan Rudess from Dream Theatre, jazz pianist Anomaly, Richard Bona, Jacob Collier and many others. His piano/keys playing is equally impressive. Aron on drums, perhaps the founding member of Dirty Loops, not just only co-writes their songs and lyrics but also edits all of their videos (including this one), and plays pocket and grooves like you wouldn’t believe, in any style. And Henrik on bass is one of the baddest bassists on the planet right now. Yes, he’s sprouted four arms, two legs doing the splits, a fake double neck bass and a fake headstock with a fake cigarette stuck on it, paying homage to the good old glam rock and guitar gods, and is clearly taking the piss… and yeah, he can shred and has come up with his own unique style of slap bass etc.. But in the end he’s an amazing jazz, funk and prog rock player. He also has collaborated with many amazing musicians. Both Aron and him used to be session musicians whilst still studying music at that school, but wanted to just play the music ‘that would get them fired from a gig’ :) They’re one of the best drum and bass teams out there, too. Another thing: Aron is said to have written a fair few of Henrik’s bass lines for him. They might’ve been unorthodox and almost unplayable, but Henrik had to figure out a way to play them. And since they don’t have a guitarist in this band, he also had to come up with inventive ways of compensating for that. Please, if you can, check out some of their other stuff. “Work Shit Out” is a way more jazzy number, although Dirty Loops’ stuff often comes initially ‘in a shiny pop package’ (or similar quote from someone else ;) but dig a little deeper, and they completely blow you away with their skills and songwriting ability. Cheers you two, it was a fun reaction to watch. Thanks 🙏

@@vorlon32that is correct, and jazz is a part of the courses but they haven’t played jazz in that sense since graduation. Mostly pop for Aron and fusion projects in Henriks case. Been playing with Aron and Henrik since 2007 and they are monsters but also the most humble and nicest guys ever. I remembered hearing DL for the first time on the way to a gig in the band van when Aron wanted to show his new project. This was six months before they published the ”Just dance” video.

This is a departure from their previous sound. I LOVE their previous sound - and this newer one is amazing and fun and I've fallen in love with it, too. They've been on tour for a year or two now, and have at least another year of touring planned. So I have a hunch that they've already figured out how their live version of this song works ... Absolutely one of my favorite bands ever, and 3 of the best, world-class musicians out there.

It's funny - I don't see this as a departure from their previous sound - they've always mixed all kinds of genres just listen to their first album. This absolutely sounds like Dirty Loops they just always come up with something new at the same time!

Congratulations - You've stumbled upon the worlds best bassist (and the best band). You caught on to their "role" in this video at once - way to go. You need to listen to a lot more Dirty Loops - you're in for a surprise every time no matter how prepared you think you are! More reactions please! 🙂

Super insightful reaction! You were spot on with your comments, really impressive to not just get lost in confusion! Dirty Loops is all about interesting and fun, and skills to back it up. Do check out more of them, it is totally worth it! Rock you, Follow the light, Work shit out (really nice), Thriller (yes, that one), Coffee break is over (just for fun), World on fire, and then a bunch of old “Loopified” covers.

You really, really, need to hear their previous catalog of KZbin videos to understand how utterly amazing Dirty Loops are! Recommend starting with their album from a few years ago, "Phoenix". I recommend starting with the song "Work Shit Out" to get a better feel for the genius of this group. As someone once said, a group like Dirty Loops…happens when every member of the band is the best musician. Run Away is interesting, but not as interesting as when they're not goofing off - which is true of virtually everything they did before, starting in 2011!!!

This new video is a goof on their different personas and features Henrik on bass far more than I have heard in the past. Check out "Work Shit Out" - one of my personal favorites. It features the other two guys and they will blow you away as well. Surprisingly, I believe Aron, the drummer, writes most of the music, or at least the core of the song with Henrik, then Jonah come in and expands on it. At least that was my take from an interview I heard with Henrik. Jonah BTW is a phenom on keyboards and has an incredible (high) voice with range and unbelievable control. They are all ultra talented musicians.

I saw them in Maryland last week and they introduced this song laughingly by saying they’d played it live just five times and that four times it was good and the fifth was a train wreck so to wish them luck ;) this being Dirty Loops they then nailed this song (and Henrik’s bass solos sounded just like this video’s audio) and gave us an incredible night to remember with the rest of the set list from their deep collection of jaw dropping hits. As someone else commented, this is prob not the best intro to their universe-but by all means check out EVERY video you can find from the early pop covers/reimaginings to their glorious Loopified and Phoenix hits. And their Songs For Lovers project: Coffee Break is Over, and Jonah’s solo projects etc. couple of my favorites are their cover of Alphaville’s Forever Young and Hit Me ( live in Montreux 2014)… but whatever you do: buckle up and prepare to grin. Enjoy the journey!

Dirty Loops !!! My Lockdown find. Welcome to the world of Henrik (bass), Jonah (singer and keyboard) and Aron ((drummer) Three immensly talented musicians. For someone who understands music creation this is indeed a 'rabbit hole' moment. They are incredible. If you dig out their Thriller song, personally, I think it's better than the original. Quincy Jones (Micheal Jackson's Producer) has signed him up, he's that good. Reactionists around KZbin clammer for their stuff. It's mind-blowing. Good luck. No other band plays like this. Funk, Jazz, Rock and pop all mixed in. For a laugh, search Coffee Break is Over on youtube by these guys. Just three guys having fun. Oh and Work Shit Out by these guys

Top class musicians who went to school together at the Royal academy of music Stockholm studying composition and jazz. The drummer writes most of the music including the Bass lines and all the vocals are usually just one person.

It is a parody, and maybe homage, to 80s Stadium Rock Anthemic performances. They do not take themselves too seriously. They are even sending up characteristics fans describe. Jonah, the singer has "boy band" looks so he's dressed in sparkly waistcoat, etc., and even does some classic boy-band moves (arms stretched too wide, fist pulling down the sky). Plus the Elton John specs, and the "Rock Good" split and stacked keyboards. Fans speculate the bass player, Henrik, is so good he must be alien. Hence the look and extra arms. Aron, the drummer was the Stadium Rock drummer with a ridiculously huge transparent kit, pink headband white 'muscle'-T with "Dirty Loops", (maybe in a Def Leppard font?) and maybe pink tights. You spotted Henrik's extra arms and comedy splits. If there are 5 bass players on Earth who might be able to play that live, Henrik is 2 of them. He's that talented. I'd recommend 2 of their collaborations with Cory Wong and his horn section, "Thriller", "Follow the Light". Most importantly react to their own original songs. Go to their KZbin channel's video section. Choose "Popular" and ignore everything older than 4 years. Best Wishes. ☮
