I have just watched his "mini superbike" video with the Ohvale GP2 and the spoke about the wear on the rear tyre showing too slow rebound damping AND fast rebound damping which is not possible if it is just shock set up! The only thing that he really got right was the tyre pressure and adding compression damping in the forks. The tyres would have cleaned up with the drop in pressure alone and the increase in the fork compression damping will have slowed the fork dive. BUT he didn't show how much fork travel was being used to set the pre-load and then balance it out with the damping, the forks are VERY good MUPO forks and I have a bike here with those forks fitted that don't have pre-load but do have compression and rebound damping and the springs have been rated for the riders weight (although with my testing they could benefit from the optional pre-load adjusters to soften them a little). The rear shock is a DNM pit bike shock and that one is a bit basic compared to mine as mine also has highspeed damping adjustment and 1 click on those shocks is going to do very very little. The girl on the bike can ride but he talks about riding lazy and how the bike is different from a big bike. It's not and the only real difference is you do need to ride with commitment as they don't seem to work very well until you push hard and ride the bike like a full race bike. The harder you push them the better they work, especially in my case on slicks. I doubt his changes made a big difference to lap times. I think to be honest the changes he makes to a trackday riders bike is more in the riders head than on the bike. If you think you can go faster, you will go faster. Once you are above a certain pace then the difference need to be real not in your head. I took a friend out for a ride on his bike, he was dead certain he needed to change the rear shock's damping softer a couple of clicks. I took 3 clicks out of the compression damping in front of him. (as I said one click does very little) then when he was getting ready to go out I set it back to where it was and he went out. He came back and said it was a lot better and he was feeling it work better and that those few clicks made a huge difference. I did tell him what I had done, it was in his head. He was quicker even though I changed nothing. This is Dave's bread and butter customer. Its like the Del of the suspension tuning world...

Matt! I brought my first welder from R-Tech today. MIG180 machine and I'm stoked to use it soon. How does the gas situation work? I can't recall the video you briefly discussed this. I want a large bottle so I'm not getting mugged off but not sure how much gas costs and what size bottles are the norm for workshop use etc? In Regards to the gas some of my American mates use 75/25 (I presume Argon and Co2 but my UK mates use more Argon. What's the score on gas for steel welding on a MIG? :)
@nutgone100 Жыл бұрын
More argon for thinner stuff (usually 95%Ar to 5%CO2). The other mixes (80/20 or 75/25, sometimes even have a little oxygen added too) are for heavier stuff, like 1/4” thick upwards). You want at least a 10 litre bottle from either Adams Gas (I think they changed their name but you’d still find it with a google search) or Hobby Weld. Most larger motor factors stock either one or both. I’d also highly recommend getting the thinner 0.6mm wire for sheet metal, it’s much easier than the 0.8mm or 1.0mm stuff. Anything thicker than sheet & you can go up to the 0.8mm. Buy bigger spools, they’re not expensive, I keep one of each plus a few small spools of stainless & one of flux core. Keep them dry though, they rust & its a pain to use then. Google Adams Gas & Hobby Weld, find a local supplier. I use Adams myself, but they’re both pretty similar.
@KrikkitWarlord Жыл бұрын
Have a look for a local welding supplies company, some motor factors can also supply them. I use 90/10 Argon CO2, but the "best" gas depends on what materials you're welding really
