I remember my first time at the skate park! I needed months of recouping because I fell directly onto my tailbone trying to go down a tiniest bump. My biggest tip is to lean way forward; always better to land on your knee pads than your tailbone!

Oh yea! Couldn’t agree more! I once fell on my tailbone and couldn’t walk for a day! It hurt so bad 😂

How timely. I've been on skates for about 2 months now and feel like I'm ready to drop in on some small bowls. I haven't even been to my local skate park to see what's there, but I'll definitely be wanting to try the smallest bowl/drop there. I'll definitely be using your tips 😁

Good luck! It’s so much fun at skate parks, but it’s a lot harder than it looks so don’t get discouraged! Take it slow too, u got this!

I love this!! I was supposed to go to the Moxi Skate Camp this past weekend and I got Covid 2 days before ☹️. Now I will have more videos to help with my “self teaching” although I’m still working on pumping 🙂.

Omg thank you for this! This instruction is so key! I’ve been building on my drop ins but every time I’m at the top, no matter how many times I’ve done it, it freaks me out. I even went to Moxi skate camp and their beginner drop in class was more or less like you said, ‘it’s like this, go ahead and do it’ and soooo many people were wiping out which didn’t help with my fear. There was no explanation of body mechanics or counter weight, which was kind of disappointing. Next time I go to the skate park, I’ll be focusing on my arms like you said. Thank you for helping me get over my mental block that is fear! Haha!

So far for me, it is Ramps 3, KC 0... I am comfortable in pumping, can roll in on non coping, can mimic drop ins on same ramps and drop in repeatedly with no issues on small transitions and bowls with coping... but for some reason, 3ft and I eat dirt and it is very frustrating for me and my remedial massage therapist...
@SpongiousBird Жыл бұрын
I can't wait to try this, although for now I'll practice pumping fward and bkward. I came to this video when I saw the thumbnail, because it wasn't clear to me if slide-blocks were necessary to drop-in from coping. Seems like I won't have to invest in slide-blocks for now!

I am an exceptionally slow skater. I wouldn't even TRY dropping in 'til I was 100% sure that I could do it. I only became sure when I was able to go up and down, up and down towards the transition... and then moved on to up and down (forwards), up and down (fakie), and then... with a lot of time standing on top of the transition... dreaming about going down it (literally, every other night I was visualising it before bed- because I knew the movement was going to be similar to what I was already doing) 'til EVENTUALLY (months and months of being at the up & down fakie) I finally did it. And I still get nervous. I have fallen only a handful of times- one of them because I wasn't watching where I was skating and my wheels went over the transition before I was ready- and I've decided that I'm not a person whose willing to fall a lot. That means my progress is slow as hell. But there's a lot of progress. It's just slow.

Great video as always! So what plates are those on your skates? Sure-Grip what? And do you need sliders for those particular plates? Id rather pay 80-$100 more for new plates than having to purchase a slide block for $100 if I can just get better plates that do not need slide blocks. Thank you!

Hello Deborah I have question for you.... when I was skating outside my wheels began to to get really loose and wobbly... can you please tell me what happened.
@SlimRose302 жыл бұрын
Honestly, if I'm ever ready for a drop in I would probably go backwards first into a deep lunge and roll back and forth that way....just so I can get used to it and the feeling and I don't freak myself out facing forward first and the ramp looking deeper than what it is. Idk.....it's a mental thing but I think I found a loophole by doing a deep lunge going backwards...I'll let you know how it goes LOL.

I’ve got a problem. My feet feel so comfy in staggerd with my left infrint but if I put my left in toe and right on the coping it’s so uncomfortable so my right foots infrint (I haven’t dropped I’m yet but I’ve set up) and I’m trying to get used to right in front but I cant
