USER generate content. That’s the key. I can tell you with CERTAINTY, my former colleague works at rockstar on their server team. The regular online game is going nowhere. Take it as you will. I don’t care if you believe me. I literally just sent him a text asking to clarify. It’s pretty straightforward. Don’t forget GTA6 is coming. RDO will get attention later.

There is no attention anywhere in the future. The servers are p2p, there is no need to shut them down cause they are no cost. That's why servers for gta iv or rdr1 work up to this very day.

I will always love RDO. I have done the 28 day challenge so many times i have 39 treasure maps still to open. The only thing killing the experience for me is the mod menu griefers who make it their goal to make sure players dont enjoy themselves.

I started running a game of Deadlands tabletop RPG (Savage Worlds from Pinnacle Entertainment). I love using RDR2 online for taking pictures in the game to use them as visuals for the players. Paper and pencil rpgs have all ways been my first love, but this game has become a sexy side piece without all the usual BS of a traditional video game rpg.

Good question. Yes you can. I was on a checked. you can see your own player stats on the rockstar site, and in game all things seem the exact same. This is just going to affect the activity feed on social club i think.

One question I'd have for you is the future of the roleplaying servers given that Rockstar own the FiveM and RedM infrastructure. To think purely like Rockstar, I see them as well....superfluous with GTA 6 coming out. Red Dead at this point is literally the hanger on in terms of what's being supported and regardless if people pay to maintain these roleplaying servers, Rockstar still has to pay money to support the underlying development of the base code....and I cannot personally see why with their continued disinvestment into Red Dead why they'd want to bother *at all* with it. I do honestly think they'll shut down the servers for RDO before GTA6 launches because they'll want all their resources heading into that, and Rockstar cannot abide competition, not even from themselves. Your thoughts?

If we were honest with ourselves, we would admit rockstar is not what it once was. When Dan houser left, RDR2 died bc it was his baby. For example, the naturalist role was the first and last dlc added after he left and it’s a joke other than legendary animals. But also even gta is not really good anymore. The newer dlcs are not as good as older stuff imo. Rockstar got lazy bc they know they’ll keep making money off “daddy’s credit card” players no matter how bad the dlcs are

I am still playing The Division from 2015 so game is not shutting down. Simply a game is a product that has 4 years shelf life. Whether they make still some money is not enough to cover resources and facilities and grant the margin. So it is all normal.

Rockstar don’t run rdr1 and gta4 online. That’s why the new rdr 1 on pc and ps5/xbox has no online support

Not sure what you mean by they don't run the online. The games just strict p2p from what i thought, which is why online still works. Good point how they don't have the online on the re-releases tho, I thought it was just a nice part of the remake the could cut for the dev team to make it easier and cheaper. RDR1 is playable online on the new xbox tho, as its was just upscaled by Microsoft and not Rockstar. So still is the old game just looking better. Played online on it recently enough.

Rockstar Games is not shutting down Red Dead Redemption 2, but it is reducing the amount of content it creates for Red Dead Online. In July 2022, Rockstar announced that it would no longer be releasing major themed content updates for Red Dead Online. The studio is shifting its development resources to Grand Theft Auto 6. The story was mainly about John and Arthur yes, but before Arthur everyone said the same thing. Saying it has to be "John" in RDR2. If you want another this is how it has to be, the CEO said he wont give up the name already
