I cannot understand these people who are like, "stop staring at me!" And when someone explains, "um, I'm blind," they somehow double down and come back with, "that doesn't mean you can just stare at people!!" Like... They're blind. They literally cannot see you. They didn't even know you existed until you came over making a stink, how could they have POSSIBLY been intentionally staring at you?

Happy disability pride month to all my fellow disabled peeps out there! I'm especially excited coz at the end of the month the second season of Good Omens (my favorite ever TV-series) will be out and it will have the actress Liz Carr who is a wheelchair user in it! Her character Saraqael also seems really cool from what I've seen of them so I'm defo super excited

Happy Disability Pride Month!! 🐛 I’ve been questioning if I need a mobility aid for months now, and as some who very likely has autism, it’s nice knowing there’s a whole month for disabled people.

But like you might say oh thats from walking, its not, both of my whole legs hurt, including the places where walking shouldnt effect. So idk. I only realised that they hirt so much on a regular basis when i tried using forearm cruches for the forst time, i was goofing around at my mums job(shes a massage therapist and works up at a phisio so there are cruches) and i was like holey cow why do my legs feel like they are free

I've never seen someone like me with depression that can be disabling and so with anxiety. 🤗 I have chronic deppression and SEVERE chronic anxiety and I'm an ADHDer (maybe autistic too) and I've noticed I struggle with walking a lot and also standing. My dad says it's cause of my posture (which I do have a terrible posture tho so... :/

4:53 i do need mobility aids do to my hEDS but my mom assumes my pain isn't "bad enough" to use them. she let me get a cane but she just keeps it in her room and i haven't been able to use it at all since i got it like she expects me to be sobbing in pain in order to assume i need it. we haven't even adjusted it yet and it's so frustrating because i DO need it but she doesn't believe me :(

happy disability pride month!! just gonna complain for a sec bc my body seems to hate me i had to walk around a lot yesterday, sometimes carrying a somewhat heavy bag, and i got to a point where walking was pretty hard and it felt like i just *couldn’t*. i’ve noticed stuff like this happening more recently, just overall. my shoulder was not doing great for a couple days (usually they’re the joints i have the least pain in, despite the fact that they are “bad” (i can pop them out on command, and back in but sometimes it takes effort to hold them in)). my wrists have also been hurting more. my physiotherapist gave me stretches a few months ago and i’ve been slacking a bit but even when i do the stretches i only do two sets instead of my usual three bc i don’t think my body can handle it. i had a doctors appointment looking into heds and the doctor briefly went over the beighton scale and because i don’t pass the beighton scale (however i very much am hypermobile) and she didn’t even look at all the other criteria which i do happen to meet. additionally, i’m scared to voice these concerns to my mom. i’m not even sure why but i guess im scared she won’t think it’s as bad as it is? or that it genuinely isn’t that bad and i should just keep doing my stretches? or maybe that even doctors wouldn’t believe me. i’m a teenager, i’m not supposed to have a messed up body (my shoulders are creaking like a door in a haunted house as i type this). i think a mobility aid of sorts would come in handy and i know this is not true but i don’t feel disabled enough for it. (and the school i’ll be starting at in the fall i’ve heard is not very accessible so that’s awesome). thanks for reading 💜💜💜

I was trying to explain disability pride month to my mother and she was confused because she thought I meant that I was queer pride month, but for disabled people. She was confused as to why we had pride month because of discrimination, but that we still were discriminating against disabled people. In the end my father had to tell her because I oy had one way of explaining it since I'm bad with words.

I just realized how much pain I've been putting off to seem normal or have be ignoring for no real reason. My lower legs have been bringing me so much pain recently and I'm sure I need at least a cane or something. I may only be 14 but I feel it would help. I'm going to walk around with my hiking stick to see if that helps.

(long paragraph coming up) happy disability pride month everyone!! im part of the lgbtq+ (im trans, gay and ace) and ive had a few problems recently... for the past 6-ish months, ive been looking at traits, symptoms etc of autism and adhd, i think i might have both (and others like anxiety and depression) but i havent asked my parents about getting a diagnosis for any of them, although it would help me understand myself better if i could look into getting a diagnosis. (im like 99% sure im autistic, but im too nervous to ask about it lmao) and also, ive had very sore and heavy legs, and it hurts to walk for long distances, and i feel a mobility aid could help, and i know i should get one to help me, but i havent gotten any yet so it kinda sucks lol… i hope you guys have an awesome disability pride month btw!!! just remember ur loved and valid no matter what :3

I have an uncontrolled seizure disorder that isn't epilepsy, and it's very difficult to explain to people that what looks like a horrible event to them is pretty chill and commonplace for me. Are my seizures fun? No, of course not. But the broader lack of knowledge on PNES leads to things like having to pay upwards of 1k during a school year for ambulances that college security calls for me when I don't need them. Chronic illness is EXPENSIVE and I don't think folks really understand that.

So I'm disabled (mentally and physically), but it's very mild. It's because I'm young but I know and my family knows that it'll get worse with age. It sucks knowing that. Knowing that it's going to get worse. But what sucks more is when people don't believe me. Currently, my body is only disabling, not fully disabled, but one day, it will be a full-on disability. If that makes sense.

Sometimes I feel like because I'm not physically disabled in any way, I shouldn't ask for accommodations or like I matter less than those who are (I'm autistic, so technically it's both a neurodevelopmental and invisible disorder). It's hard to explain but I feel guilty and like "man they're ACTUALLY disabled. But not me" Idk am I being weird? Does anyone else feel that way?
