Sorry to hear that man. Check out my part two for more options. I also recently got a comfortec belly band holster that doubles as a back brace. I’ll probably make a video on. This is awesome video. I also carry while being on my mobility scooter. I've tried several bags but I found the large addidas bag to fit all my needs the best. I was thinking about doing a video about the many different bags i have. Thnx for the motivation.
@injuredoutdoorsman90113 жыл бұрын
You should! Last year for Christmas my wife got me a Viktøs Upscale Sling. It’s a little more tactical than I’d like, but not too obvious, plus gives me easier/quicker access to my gun, and beneath the holster, I keep a CAT tourniquet. I’m going to be putting out a video comparing the two bags, along with a bunch of other videos in the near future.
@P.HATHCOX3 жыл бұрын
I use that sling bag method you showed here and so far it has been working out. As you said, no one bats an eye at me wearing a bag like that. I can draw and get on target within a couple seconds. I'm going to reexamine appendix carry. I wasn't sure it could be done effectively from a sitting position but apparently it can. Good to know.
@injuredoutdoorsman90113 жыл бұрын
To appendix carry comfortably all day, I’d definitely recommend a barrel under 4”. You’re right, the sling bag is definitely the way to go for off the body carry.

Josh, I just found ur page. Love the content, I have been a chair now since '12 . I went in to complete shut down mode after my surgery for about 4yrs following a firefighting accident. Before I was a hunter and outdoorsman. Now I can't find anyone to even help me go hunt, I miss the rush. Any how thank you for the videos
@injuredoutdoorsman90114 жыл бұрын
Thank you for your service and for checking out my channel! I miss it too man, I’m hopefully going hunting for the first time since my injury next week. I’ll be filming it and posting a video on here. My cousin is going with me, and I’m sure will be helping me with whatever I need. If you don’t have family or friends that can take you, have you heard of Hero Hunt? They take disabled veterans and first responders hunting across the U.S. at no expense to you. I’ve spoken with the founder and he’s a great guy. There’s also Disabled Outdoorsmen as well that take people with disabilities hunting and fishing.

Josh you have to learn to do things your self. I have been in a wheelchair since September. 1979 went hunting that Dec. With a body cast on. You will find people are not there to help all the time. Im lucky I have a truck and a trailer I load the bike my self and unload it. And there is nothing I can't do you have to figure out out a way to do it. Thanks for the video I also ware cargo pants and keep my 380 in the pocket.

I've been in a wheelchair for about 20yrs now, I've only recently had to think about concealed carry.. I've almost got a cross draw option figured out. I want to mount a holster to the side guard of my chair (under the arm rest) I just don't know if kydex & corby bolds would be better than my leather rig.. any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
@injuredoutdoorsman90113 жыл бұрын
I generally don’t recommend carrying a gun on your wheelchair, if you get knocked out of it, 1 you obviously can’t get to it 2 the criminal can take it and use it against you or others. If you’re going to carry, carry on your person or in a bag that is attached to you.

Any issues with pressure sores or anything like that? What about pressing on the man parts? I have a T7 SCI and desperately need to find an on-body IWB carry option for my G43
@injuredoutdoorsman90113 жыл бұрын
I have both a Blue Line Concealment and a Vedder kydex appendix holster (one with a TLR-6 & the other without), and I haven’t had any issues with pressure sores. With as short of a barrel as the G43 has, it doesn’t come close to the man parts. I did however gain a lot of weight over the course of about a year (due to a medical situation), and couldn’t appendix carry anymore, because it pressed too hard against my stomach (I’m sure this would be relieved if I had bought larger pants). If you are still worried about pressure sores, kydex rubbing against your skin constantly, etc. check out a belly band that you can put down by your appendix. Alien Gear makes several, that still have a kydex shell for weapon retention, to protect the trigger, and fully cover the trigger guard.

Hmmm great thoughts but less helpful for those of in smaller wheelchairs. The type of wheelchair you're in is more of a hospital/short injury chair lol
@injuredoutdoorsman90114 жыл бұрын
Thanks for watching! Unfortunately, I’ve had this same type of chair for years. Most of the carry positions I suggested should be viable from a smaller chair as well, but if not, I’ll soon be filming a part 2, where I suggest a few other ways of carrying from a wheelchair. This will be especially pertinent in the cooler weather.
@10Nookolette014 жыл бұрын
@@injuredoutdoorsman9011 interesting! Perhaps you should look into getting a wheelchair more adapted to your body and needs. Sitting in a chair like that permanently will create more issues for your body long term. It’s a hospital char, that I’ve had to use for almost 5 years... I had to get a Comfilife cushion and lumbar support pad for, because it’s so uncomfortable and not meant for long term usage.
