LPN/RN is all about your skill. I tell anyone to get into the field. I teach RN’s all the time how to draw IV’s. I know too many LPN’s that get paid more than RN’s because of the skill

Yessss! My brain is constantly spinning with all the research I’ve done between LPN, RN, bridge programs, etc. One thing I found is that in my city, you have to work for one year as an LPN before you can even apply to the university RN,BSN program!

If you truly want the Rn please go back ……you will always revisit the feeling….just make sure you are ready mentally and financially to do so….I have been a lpn for 8 years with me having a bachelors degree I have definitely gained experience in managerial roles but the increase in pay makes it harder to go back to RN school knowing you will have an initial pay cut but depending on what you want it will be worth it in the end

Currently I’m a CNA in a hospital here in Maryland . I’m pursuing my ADN-RN at a community college. The community college also has a partnership with the University which allows me to work on my BSN while I’m working on my ADN. Good thing about this is my job is paying for my tuition plus offering me tuition assistance. Also after graduation and I get my RN, I’ll do my time in the Residency program. I’m,really blessed to be a part of an organization that cares about career advancement because they care about educational growth as well. My ultimate goal tho is to become a nurse practitioner

I hate being a LPN. The pressure is real. And tbh I don’t wanna go back because I love nursing. Cause tbh being a nurse has made me hate it. I am only anxious to go back because I feel like I am stuck. Like stuck wage wise opportunity wise we are limited. And livin in the northern east coast the cost of living is insane. Also us LPNs are not given grace. People look down on us. I can count how many times I’ve been at an assignment and was asked by people who were only school aids asking me what kind of nurse am I and if I was a HHA. It’s highly offensive that if I am a nurse you need to know which one I am because you want to know how you should treat me. Not to mention the jobs don’t be wanting to pay us. Unfortunately, I can’t go back because now we have to be Covid Vaccinated. My college is offering the bridge program and the lady who is runnin the program (or so I think that’s who she was) told me that if I am not vaccinated the program is not for me.. she didn’t even offer me to come back when I decided to get vaccinated she simply said if you are not vaccinated then this program is not for you. Am I canceling your appointment? After hearing her say that I came to the conclusion that maybe nursing isn’t. Cause now all I’ve come across is people in charge who are not understanding.
@piccolopete87475 ай бұрын
Ugh that's so frustrating, I'm sorry. My biggest fear is not being able to make it through nursing school because I don't want to get the covid vaccine. I'm willing to make whatever accommodations necessary but it really feels like you are unwelcome if you are not vaccinated, and hearing your experience made me even more doubtful that I can succeed in this field.

It really depends on what you want in life. If you want work life balance than nursing isn’t for you period. You can be an LVN put in those 60 hours a week and make 6 figures. If you need an expanded lifestyle than you can be an RN work them 60 hours and get the mini mansion you really can’t afford and never retire. So in essence just do what makes it work for you but there’s no 1 fits all solution it’s gonna be trade offs. You got ppl who are doing well that are mechanics because they have no debt they’ve been invested since their 20s and they keep their lifestyle below their means. Also yall got to take into consideration nursing can be a physically and mentally taxing career and most of us will probably be taking out a lot of debt to get that RN and if you’re young cool you got plenty of time to pay that debt off

I just went in blind. Graduated after 3 years working my ass off! I thought I was going to lose my mind!! Once I get closer to the finish line I don't know what I was thinking but I just knew I. Oh I just knew I had to go on but also in Illinois they weeded out LPNs working at hospitals and I had worked at the hospital for 5 years. At that point starting from the human resources department and working my way up. I had my child two jobs and school consume me. I lost my relationship. My son started calling my mom mom because I never got to see him broke my heart but I decided to keep going and didn't take a break for in between summer when I got accepted into the RM program so that I can continue working at the hospital and I think most of that was listening to Peers, not myself. I regret it because I burned out and quit my second semester of RN School. My grandma started to decline and so did I so I was forced to make a choice be there for her or to go to school. I still struggle and cry because of the events that happened. Weighs heavy on my heart. And I graduated in 2010. I work as lpn and one nursing home and two senior living homes and I knew that wasn't what I wanted. I was not my plan. I didn't like it. I wasn't going in to prolong lives and to inject morphine. I wanted to save lives. By the time my second child can, I had started to get my bachelor's and my local college and I actually left the day I had him in the hospital for a job interview for the state walked in the heat and come find out that it was put on hold. I was devastated. So I went to school continue working as a CNA. As for my boss, she encouraged me to continue to go to school, but when I did she made promises to find me a hand shifts that they had opened in certain areas of the hospital. But when it was all said and done, her smart remark was "just because you're an LPN doesn't mean you can work as one!" That hit me hard 😭 I was so proud of myself because I work so hard so exhausted. I was going to go crazy before I became a nurse. I didn't graduate high school. I had stillborn baby when I was 16 dropped out. But got my GED the month in almost two the day I was supposed to graduate. And then was undecided for too long during my community college days. I learned a lot . And a lot of it's beneficial to me now. But I don't have any money to go back to school nor do I have the money or the means or the I'm not eager. I'm not hungry for it. I do renew my license which is due on the 31st which is why I caught this video looking for CEUs I have to pay for, Ugh plus the increase fees for f****** license. So I guess bottom line is if I had to do it over again I wouldn't have chosen LPN. Now that I know what I know now. I love. I love love. I love all the people that I met. Taking care of people is my thing but not in that capacity. Sorry to be so long winded. Felt good to get that off my chest. 💯❤️
