Yeah, the show is a lot less uplifting when you take all the subtext into consideration. For instance, this song is about Evan convincing himself that what he's doing is okay, even though he knows it's horrible. I mean, we literally never see Connor again after he commits suicide, it's all just Evan talking to himself (which is referenced later in the play). Think of how kind of self-manipulative it is for "Connor" to start singing "if you're falling in a forest...", even though the real Connor would have no idea what that means. Even just doesn't want to think of himself as a bad person. The animatic this person made for "For Forever" also shows some of the true meaning of that song. It's Evan kind of rewriting what actually happened in order to feel better about himself, to the point that he himself seems to buy into his own lie. It's kind of bitter-sweet when it comes to "If I Could Tell Her", since Even is kind of proclaiming how much he loves Zoe, but at the same time, he's lying to her in a way that convinces her to feel false sympathy for a brother that was probably abusive ("don't say it wasn't true that you were not the monster that I knew")

Midnightblink I kinda disagree about the meaning of this song. If you watch the full musical, there is this heartbreaking scene where "Connor" tells Evan to stop lying to himself and asks if he fell or he let go. Basically, Evan didn't fall out of that tree, he let go. This gets even more sad the more you think about it. Especially because in one of the cut songs we learn that the way Connor committed suicide was by overdosing on pills and he wasn't found for a while. Connor and Evan are very similar characters. The only difference is that people cared enough about Evan to find him quickly and rush him to the hospital. At this point in the musical Connor's starting to fade from peoples memories. Evan could easily end this whole thing and stop all the lying. But he doesn't because he could have easily been Connor. This song is him getting the idea for the Connor Project and deciding that he needs to keep the memory of Connor alive because no one deserves to be forgotten. At this point in the musical, the whole thing becomes more personal. He's not just doing this because he has to anymore. Sorry that was really long. Also, sorry for all the feels. I obsess over this musical way too much.

What I really like about this animatic, is that it shows how the "connor project" was like "invented", how it got build. In most animatics the "conner project" just kinda appears out of nowhere, it's just there, and it's clear that Evan made it, but it doesn't show how. In this one, he first made the page, then a flyer and then worked on the page with connors family and his friends. It makes it more realistic and shows that it indeed wasn't as easy as just "It's there, it's called the connor project, Evan made it". IT'S A PROCRESS AND I ABSOLUTLY LOVE IT!!!

It makes no sense to try to prevent people from watching bootlegs. Most of the people who do are already fans of the musical (or Broadway fans in general) and, given the opportunity, would totally pay to go see it live.
