This is the best tutorial I have found on the WEB. Very concise and right to the point. Since it was a first attempt of this kind it did take some time to accomplish and inevitably, I have missed few steps on final assembly of the parts. Watch out for the flat ribbon cables, t may look as they are connected, yet they simply lay on the top of the connector. Happened to the switch and touch pad connectors. I do have to admit: I did end up with 3 extra screws, no idea where they were supposed to go. However laptop is working perfectly so I do not worry about it. Thanks again.

Hey Man, thank you for the tutorial, I tried to repeat the process on my Aspire to clean the cooling fan, and it seems to be working. It ws my first attempt at something like this and it was really helpful for a beginner like me. Thanks again, keep it up!

What I did was detach the fan blades from its housing and place a drop of sewing machine oil on the spindle/axle part before reassembling.

I used black electrical tape on mine, although I have to admit, the factory tape seemed more super sticky

What screw head types are needed to find out if yet another tool kit is needed? I have several already. Thank you

I believe that the 5742 screws are all Philips, though a lot of disassembly is required to get to the fan and heatsink, so not for the faint of hearted!

what tape did you use for the fan with the radiator ?

Don't know if you'll see this 8 years later, but if you don't own the special fan tape you could also use electrical tape.
