Man Jani, I wish you would be me my neighbour. I have the exact same car and there is so much need for repairing. I paid big money for the repair of my diff. Nice to see that you can repair it on you own. Keep doing these videos. Great work mate!

Thanks! Would you like to tell me how much your rear differential repair cost you? This diff project cost for me 122 euros for new bearing set and 40 euros to the machine shop for the removal of the pinion gear bearing carrier.

@@JaniVoutilainen fortunately the seller paid for it. 1200€. I bought the car in january. Sandblasting the cover, replace bearings. Thats it. The mechanic told me there were damaged parts but they couldnt get spare parts for it. So he put them back in. I def choosed the wrong mechanic. But the annoying whining sound is gone.

You're not including the costs of all the tools required... Only saving on labor. There's a hobby shop in my area with all lifts & tools where anyone can work on their vehicles. That's ideal.

Hi, I have a question, there's a difference that the ends of the circlips goes up or down? The differential it's a 215L from a e90 330d 2006, there's no an oil passage on top, I'll appreciate the answer, thanks in advance.

Don't remove the pinion like that! Refit the nut a few turns, refit the socket and hammer that downwards.
