I know you're an amazing detailer but here's a fun fact from someone a little bit older all you do is spray clear coat over those parts before you wax it and it will look almost the exact same sometimes it will look the exact same and you won't even notice the difference and it's a lot less than paying $10,000 for a new paint job

What a wonderful gift you gave to the owners of the Viper. You restored it to even better than when they ever had it. Their emotions when they saw the finished product were gratitude enough for the excellent work you all did for them. You restored a car, but you restored their brother's memory!!!

As a viper owner (2003- 3rd Gen), it breaks my heart to see one in this state. Come on man, how much does it take to throw a tarp on the thing? BTW, this black example is a 1st Gen (1992-95) - No door handles, soft plastic removable windows, after-thought removable roof - a real bare-bones sports car - The “spiritual successor” to the Shelby Cobra.
@dannymiller6245
@dannymiller6245 2 жыл бұрын
Yep, never a car that wanted to kill you more than a viper, if you’ve ever driven a viper you’ll know that the car has no feelings for what it does to you, and it will lose traction if you so much as look at it wrong. One of the best street cars, but also one of the most dangerous due to the sheer lack of traction control, anti lock brakes, or stability control at all.

Honestly. I consider myself a car nut. I own a 2006 GTO. Unique car. Gotta love the Viper! Anyway. I've watch plenty of episodes of coffee walk with Dennis Collins he buys plenty of barn finds ect. All the time he mentions how covering cars when they are outside are a lot of times worse. He actually says to not cover them. I was shocked myself. In these situations they should probably just throw up a portable harbor freight carport.

A couple of comments. First, I’m so happy you guys got a new sponsor. That’s fantastic. You guys deserve it. Second, I have a suggestion for you. I think it would be great if you would either put it in text on the screen or comment during the video every time you use a product on a vehicle and tell us what the product is, or at least what its purpose is. I’m always wondering what you’re spraying or using on the car. At the beginning of this video, for instance, you sprayed the vehicle with something and I am wondering if it’s an iron remover or what exactly it is. It would be so much more helpful and informative if you would let us know. Thanks!

I'd restore it from top to bottom. Have it repainted reclear coated. Replace the rugging in grey and put a hard convertible top instead of the soft top it will protect the inside better. I think that's what the brother should do. That would honor the other brother. Keeping it in disrepair isn't a way to honor the brother. Also I think the speakers will have to be replaced. Also all those dash pieces are gonna have to be replaced or painted. Have the engine looked over check for any rust on it as well as the chassis or other suspension systems.

Excellent video! Regarding the question You asked at 5:20 ... I'd try to get this car back into best possible technical condition but I wouldn't repaint it. I'd try to keep the character it gained over the decades, incl. all that peeled off clear coat. Besides I'd try to do my very best to protect the car from corrosion, e.g. renewing body-cavity sealing. There are some cars that simply look good and / or appeal to my sense of taste so much that I do not care in which optical condition they are ... which means I simply see the design and feel attracted to the design itself. There's some car designs which are so unique that I simply love the design and the shape and therefore do not really care anymore about the optical condition at all. First and second generation Viper is one of them.

So awesome you guys went above and beyond for this gentleman with his sentimental inherited Viper. I feel like the headlights left a little something to be desired, another sanding stage and a heavier compound followed by a polish could have really brought them back maybe. Fantastic job and what a great reaction by the family!!!

I actually got to sit in a viper when they first came out in the late 90s. just to sit in one you feel the power even though the engine isn't turning. I was stationed in Norfolk VA but the dealer was in Virginia Beach it was bad ass. It was actually the same color as the one you guys detailed.

It's great to see you guys helping out. Personally, I'd want to bring it back to factory spec as it came off the showroom floor. With some upgrades of course. The reactions are priceless. Great jobs guys, nicely done. His bro would be proud that's for sure.

There is alot of work that needs to be done on that Viper. You guys have done a magnificent job considering the condition it is in but paint wise I would have to go complete re-spreay, do it properly for my brother. Same with suspension and mechanicals if it has been sitting that long, everything new or re-built. That's just me. Great vid and I love your content, keep it👍👍🇦🇺

You guys, and M.A.D. Detailing, are my favorites by far. You do such tremendous work! A little hint - sometimes stains and discoloration on interior vinyl can be removed with an ammonia-based cleanser like Windex. As a musician, I've removed loads of nasty, brown tar and nicotine stains from guitar amps and grill cloths using this. Keep it in mind.

I thought that car was a lost cause when I first started watching the video. Your transformation was amazing. That car is amazingly well preserved and could likely be restored to show condition for less than $10,000.

My thoughts as well. Considering that it sat outside for years in all sorts of weather with a window missing I suspect that it’s just a matter of time before it gets neglected again. They should sell it to someone who is able to properly maintain and care for it.

As much as I hope the owner takes this opportunity to keep rolling and get the Viper in a drivable state, I seriously doubt he will. You can tell by the property the car was stored that he has a lot of projects he “will get to one day” but never does. Great transforms on the car, but it’s one minor inconvenience away from just sitting and rotting for years again.
