Jag as a DMV native northwest immediately makes me think of D.C... NW,NE,SW,SE are how locals talk about the different areas. You even have to write NW on the address if its in that area. But for out of towners i see the confusion.

I was expecting something like NFCU Stadium. Northwest Stadium sounds like a non-corporate name for a venue in Seattle or Vancouver

In wrestling, there is a thing called lazy booking. In corporate sponsors, there's a thing called lazy branding. P.S.: Wouldn't it make sense to have it named as NWFCU Stadium to save some trouble?

No matter what name it is, that stadium sucks all around including getting to public transportation. Bring to DC proper, not VA not other MD. DC. Bc WMATA is so easy to get to say Nats Park Capital One Arena and Audi Field which DC Defenders uses. I understand negotiating thr city along with congress is tough to get a land suited for commanders but there is will and a way.

I got curious and went down an SEO rabbit hole based on only hearing "northwest". "Northwest company" brings up someone else called the North West Company taking up the first page of search results. "Northwest inc" returns Northwest Licensed Sports and Entertainment Home Goods. "Northwest NFL" brings up the aforementioned NLSEHG, The Northwest Group stuff on NFLShop, and Northwestern University football. "Northwest Washington" shows the DC neighborhood and the northwest region of Washington state.

I'm not sure why the Commanders didn't add the word "Federal" to their obsolete stadium's name. That way, you won't have that high school stadium (it's in Fort Worth, not Dallas) pop up in a Google search. I like that the Commanders got with a DMV-based business, but more should've been done.

Maybe the Commanders have plans in the future to move back into DC, perhaps somewhere in the Northwest quadrant of the city this time, in which case the naming of "Northwest Stadium" would make a whole lot of sense when the move happens.

​@JG9News The people paying the money likely have priority on what the final name would be. Plus they're paying more than FedEx did for the last deal and there's an out clause for the team if/when the new stadium is built. Is the name silly? a little bit, but calling a sponsorship deal a "disaster" is a major stretch IMO. 🤷‍♂️
